Click hereWisps of the retreating, furious shouts that she could still hear teased into her numb brain as Gemma worked clumsily at the slats barring her way.
"Couldn't you have fucking resisted playing with the Mackeld's toy until we'd got him too?" the female cursed.
"I didn't see you resisting playing with her brother," Nicholas Grey howled his response.
The furious pounding inside Gemma's aching chest interrupted with a staccato jolt, then began to beat a harder, erratic rhythm: double fury. What she had heard thundered again and again through her pounding head, waking her further, setting her teeth to a silent snarl as she worked. So. Two reasons.
Where had she heard that woman before?
Hold on, my love, she thought out into the darkness. Please.

Hello patient readers,
Apologies for the long wait, and thanks to those of you who are hanging in there. This was originally a bit that was flashbacks later, but I realised it's really the end of Ch15 and have rearranged.
Chapter 16 is also finished, I will submit it together with this, but it may take longer to be posted as it's longer. Please let me know if Ch16 is confusing. It brings in quite a lot that was hard to weave, and I'm not sure whether I've left out too much of the background, having rewritten it too many times to count , and whittled it down.
The final Chapter 17 is fairly straightforward, and I thought nearly finished, but I've just hit on something exciting to add - I'll post it as soon as I can. There also may still be a number of questions that haven't been answered, or inconsistencies, which I'm trying to find before I finish the story. If I don't find them all, please let me know!
Many thanks to those of you who let me know about DesirePink stealing the story so far and posting it on WattPad as hers (grr). It had been taken down at my request the last I looked.
Please vote and comment!

WTF!?! WTH!?! WHAT HAPPENED TO GEMMA!!??!! Her HEART WAS RIPPED OUT!!??!! Growing back Thanks to her wolf! In a CREMATORIUM!!! WHAT!?! NO ONE BELOW COMMENTED ON THAT!!! WHAT DID NICK DO TO HER!!??!! THE BASTARD!!! MY HEART HURTS! I’m in TEARS! O!M!G! HAVEN’T THEY BEEN THROUGH ENOUGH!!??!! Yes Great you got Riley home! Now WHAT ABOUT GEMMA, MAC, ADAM, BETHAN, CAN’T RECALL THE OTHER GIRLS NAME I’M IN SHOCK!!! KATE!! He called off the search because he Thinks she’s dead!!! And WTF Who Is the female voice she’s heard before!?! What did he do to her brain she said it hurt too!?! I HOPE you didn’t just THROW something together for an ending to just Get It Done Of Whatever!! And WHO CARES IF ITS LONG!!??!! It’s YOUR BABY!!! I PRAY you clear up as to WTF happened to her! Sorry for all the YELLING CAPS I’m just Shocked, Stunned, Floored ALL of these are an UNDERSTATEMENT!!!
But I couldn't help noticing that Gemma's problem was brought on by nobody else but her. For an intelligent female she does things so irrationally. She knows that Mac is already in a lot of strain but she keeps on insisting her way. She should've focused on controlling her rages and look where she got herself. Use the brain.
I went so far as to leave the site until you posted again, so glad that things were resolved re the plagiarism, love were the story is going, but I thought Adam died in the plane crash.
Wow. I'm sorry to say that I had nearly forgotten you its been so long. But like usual, I can't get enough of your story. Glad to hear that the next one should be up in a few days or so, and really excited with the information on this one.
PS Loved what you did with Riley. So easy to gloss over minor acts and characters. Thing I'm actually a little curious about time-wise (and its possible it was in this chapter and my horrible memory has blanked it again) is whether his reward was before or after the feast. Either way is fine of course, but I am curious.
