Six months later.

"Bas Version 1.2, come on line."

Bas opened his eyes. He almost groaned as he tried to interpret the sheer mass of sensations opening his new eyes had caused.

"Respond, Bas Version 1.2."

"Online, Dr. Anderson." The vibrations of using his new voice box, surprised him.

"Good. Can you see me, Bas?"

"Yes, Dr. Anderson." He focused on the doctor.

"Good, good. What is your purpose, Bas Version 1.2?"

"To find Jagati and bring her back to you."

"Excellent." The doctor nodded his head, the scribbled on his clipboard.

"Do you really think this is going to work?" Aakil stopped next to Lesaro. He'd been dead set against placing the protection program, he'd designed into the cybernetic vessel that Dr. Anderson had developed.

"Aakil, you wound me. Who better to track down my bride than your security program, who knows her habits and routines? From what I understand, your daughter has some affection for the program. It will be the perfect tool to bring her home where she belongs."

"I still feel uncomfortable about this."

"Well, if she hadn't given your men the slip five times in the last six months, Aakil, I wouldn't be resorting to an outdated computer program."

Bas stood impassively while the two men argued over Jagati as if she were nothing more than a mere possession. It drove home the fact he was nothing more than a computer.

"Come with me, Bas." Aakil grabbed him by his arm.

"Of course, Mr. Liu." Bas allowed Aakil to drag him to the door.

"Bas!" They both stopped.

"Yes, Dr. Anderson?"

"Don't fail me. Bring her back." The doctor had a calculating look in his eyes. Bas had a feeling if he failed it would be the last thing that he ever did.

* * * *

Walking into the house, Bas tried to orient himself. It was a much different perspective than he was accustomed.

"Bas, we need to discuss a few things. Code word: chhetri."

"Deactivating recorder, Mr. Liu." Aakil nodded in approval. That bastard thinks he so clever but he's no where clever as I.

"Now, listen to me, Bas. When you find my daughter..."

"Yes, I will find her..."

"Don't bring her back here, Bas. Find her and take her far away as possible. I don't want her back in Nepal where Lesaro can get his hands on her. Keep her safe! Do you understand?"

"Keep her safe and don't return to Nepal. Yes, I understand, Mr. Liu." Bas turned to leave.

"One other thing, Bas. Tell her I was wrong and I love her."

Bas nodded.

Bas stood in the restroom at the airport. He was fascinated by his reflection in the mirror. He'd been surprised the first time he had caught his own reflection. He was built like a warrior of the past. He easily stood a head and a half taller than the Indians around him and unlike the darker skin of the people milling around him, his skin was a golden bronze. His hair was the color of honey and he was built like a Viking from the middle centuries of Europe. He stuck out like a sore thumb. He assumed he'd been given this body to better blend in with the people that he would meet on his travels to find Jagati.

Scanning his internal files after exiting the restroom, he tried to narrow down the best place to look. The last time she had been spotted was in Chicago, the capitol of the Mideastern Province in the United States of Northern America. He couldn't help but be proud of his little Jagati. She'd managed to stay one step ahead of her pursuers. Not to say when I catch up with her, I won't paddle her little ass for leaving me.

* * * *

Jagati looked over her shoulder. The constant attention from her new boss was beginning to grate on her nerves. She'd taken this low paying job to avoid being tracked. With no taxes or paperwork, she was certain her father would find it more difficult to locate her. Moving quickly, she picked up the dishes the last customer had left. Waiting tables wasn't anything new to her now. She'd done this several times since she'd left Nepal. Never had she waited tables in such a low end restaurant. Her mother would be mortified if she knew.

I wouldn't be waiting tables if my damn sola-car hadn't broke down on me again! Mr. Nyguen had hired her on the spot because he'd mistaken her for a migrant worker in the country illegally. For once she was happy her mixed heritage made people mistake her for Mexicana or Hispanica, the worlds top two minorities.

She'd taken the job despite the fact she knew he'd expect sexual favors in return for his generosity. She had to keep moving if she wanted to stay a step ahead of her father. He was quite relentless when he wanted something and he wanted her married.

"Jagati, I need to talk to you after your shift, girl." Mr. Nyguen yelled across the crowded diner.

"Yes, Mr. Nyguen." She nodded as if she was agreeing with him. Maybe he was going to pay her. She'd been working for two weeks and she'd yet to see any credits. She'd been sleeping in her sola-car to save what few credits she had. If he paid her, she'd have enough to fix it and head out west. I just hope I don't have to sleep with him to get them. He's made it obvious he wants me.

* * * *

Bas walked out of the Midwestern Regional Airport, squinting at the bright sunshine. His little Jagati was a crafty one. After landing in Chicago, he'd found out she'd moved on. Interfacing with the local computer link, he'd found a car registered in his name, which had an outstanding ticket. Quite clever of her. Aakil's men never would have looked for a car registered to Bas Anderson.

So he'd turned around and hopped back on a plane to take him to Newton, a town in the Midwest Region. Now he was here he'd have to find transportation. Walking over to the closest yellow sola-cab, he inquired about a fare to Newton. The cabbie laughed before shaking his head. Straightening, he tried the next three sola-cabs and came to the conclusion, that no sola-cab would take him to Newton. There's got to be a way for me to get there.

"Hey there, young fella. Did I just hear you say that you needed a ride to Newton?"

There must be one of Samantha's angels looking over me. Bas turned and greeted the older man standing behind him.

"Yes. I'm looking for a woman."

"And I have a barn full of hay that I need to have spread out in the fields for my hungry cows."

Bas stared at him thoughtfully, weighing the options. Would it be faster to help this man and have a ride, or search for another ride? A quick glance around assured him, the later would be more efficient.

"If I help you with your hay, you'll give me a ride to Netwon?"

The man squinted at him before nodding.

"Fine. Show me where this hay is."

Jagati watched as the owner flipped the lock on the office door. She took off her apron and waited uneasily for him to speak. She was sure the talk he wanted to have, had little to do with talking.

"Jagati, you've done very well for your first week." Mr Nyguen smiled. His smile sent a chill up her spine.

"I..." She fidgeted with the apron in her hands.

"Now, I have your credits right here." He patted the front of his dirty chinos. "Why don't you come and get them." He rubbed his hand up and over the zipper before tugging it down.

"I've never...." She backed up, hitting the desk behind her.

"Shhh...I'll even make it easy for you, little one. " He reached inside and pulled out his unwashed cock. She flinched at the sight of it. She could see in the opening, just past his sex organ, a wad of paper credits. She swallowed roughly. Can I do what he obviously wants for those credits?

"I'm not going to wait all day, Jagati. Come here. If you want your money, you'll give me exactly what I want."

Dread filled her at his words. Fuck, will I have to sleep with him, or will I be able to get away with giving him a hand-job or a blow-job? I really don't want my first time to be with him.

"And what is it you want, Mr, Nyguen?"

"You with your pretty, little mouth around my dick. And I'm growing impatient with you. Now, bring your ass over here and start sucking. Or you won't get a single credit out of me."

Jagati sank to her knees in front of him. Bile rose in her throat at the thought and smell of what she was going to do to get the money she was owed. Mr. Nyguen growled as she reached up and gingerly grasped him. She held her breath as she dipped her head.

Bas thanked Elmer as he got out of the old battered pickup. After hearing Bas's stomach rumble, Elmer had told him this diner had the best food in the area. Bas was tempted to ignore it but after one disastrous experience, he'd learned his lesson about ignoring his human body. Unlike his other form, his new body required substance to survive. The burn in his arms was unfamiliar but not unwelcome. He felt invigorated by the physical activity. I could easily become accustomed to this body! It's much more satisfying than working the circuitry of my memory boards.

Pushing open the door, he walked into the air-conditioned diner. The smells of food were becoming familiar. This was not the first diner he'd been in since leaving Nepal. Sitting down at the counter, he smiled absently at the woman who came over to take his order. After ordering, he pulled the picture he had of Jagati out of his pocket. It was one from his vast memory bank. One that he had printed off before he had been transplanted. It was probably one of his favorites. She was sitting in the picture window of her room. Staring out into the rain, she had been unaware that he'd captured her moment of reflection.

When his waitress came back with his order, he smiled in thanks.

"Is there anything else I can get for you, Fabio?"

Bas looked at her blankly. Fabio?

"Pardon me?"

"Ah, don't mind me, it's just my off sense of humor, hun."

"Well, there is one thing. I'm looking for a girl." He offered the picture to her.

After looking at it, she handed it back to him.

"Haven't seen her around lately, hun. Maybe she moved on." She turned and went into the kitchen.

* * * *

Jagati was trying hard not to gag. The smell coming off of his unwashed body was nauseating. She grimly handled his dick with soft hands. Thanks to the barha pikayigu, she knew exactly how to stroke and where to touch to inflame a man. She'd had always hoped it'd be her future husband she'd be practicing on.

"Damn, girl! Where did you learn to do that?" Mr. Nyguen panted as his hips jerked against her hands.

"In my country, it's a tradition to have the girls trained on how to best pleasure their future mate."

"Damn, they did good!" He writhed in his chair when she touched the sensitive area between his scrotum and anus. "Now, show me what they taught you about sucking cock!"

Jagati knew the time had come. She could no longer put it off and was going to have to put him in her mouth. This was not what I'd envisioned when I practiced on the synthetic cock Auntie gave me.

Leaning in, she grimly licked the end of him before taking him in quickly. When his legs tensed and jerked with pleasure, she realized he was closer to coming than she'd hoped. Bobbing her head quickly, she tried to ignore the rancid taste on her tongue. She needed him to come quickly before she got sick! Sliding the finger that had been toying between his ass and balls, she slowly slid it into his unsuspecting ass.

"What the hell!"

He arched off the chair and exploded violently. She jerked her head back and grabbed his cock, jerking on it quickly, milking the last of his come with her fist.

After he'd calmed, she removed her hands from him. Turning, she walked over to the small bathroom that occupied one corner of his office. Washing her hands, she tried not to stare at herself in the mirror. She felt used. She couldn't believe circumstances had driven her to whore herself for a money. Where was the proud daughter?

She's gone.

After he'd given her the credits, Jagati had hurried out of the diner and ran to her sola-car. She'd finally had enough money and could move on. It'd been only four weeks since the last time her father's men had found her. She knew it was time to move on. She was pressing her luck by staying.

Turning the car on, she winced as the engine protested. Come on baby, get me to the shop and I'll get you fixed. Then we can head out west.

Babying it to the garage, she shut it off with a sigh of relief. The mechanic walked out, wiping his hands on a dirty rag.

"Good morning, Jagati. She's sounds terrible!" Joe opened her door and helped her out. Unlike Mr. Nyguen, she actually liked Joe. He was an older black man who was known for his smile.

"Yes, Joe. I finally came up with the money to have you fix the solar panel intake. How long do you think it'll take to fix my baby?" She fingered the stash of creedits in her jeans pocket while waiting for his answer.

"It's going to take at least two days to fix it. I have to special order the part from the factory." He tugged on the bill of his hat. " Where are you going to sleep?"

"What?" Jagati felt her face heat up.

"I know you've been sleeping in your car, sweetheart. Why don't you stay with me?"

"I couldn't possibly..." She tried to think of an excuse. Surely Joe isn't another Mr Nyguen. I couldn't have been that wrong about him.

Joe walked over and placed his hands on her slender shoulders.

"Jagati, I know you're running from someone and as soon as I get this car fixed for you, you'll be gone like the wind. Let me help you while you're still here. The wife and I would love to have you."

Relief poured through her at the mention of his wife. Thank god, he's married. He's offering out of kindness but I still feel guilty about dragging him into my mess.

"It's not fair to you, Joe. You barely know me and sure as the sun rises in the east, the trouble following me will darken your door."

"Nonsense, child."

Jagati turned to see a petite black woman stride from the shadows of the garage.

"You'll either stay with us or Joe won't fix your car. I won't have you sleeping on the streets. Now grab that bag of yours out of the car and come into the house." She turned and shuffled back to the house.

"Ah, Jagati, I think you should go with her. Once Lilith has decided something, it's better to just bend with the wind." He leaned against the fender of her car.

"Your wife, I take it?"

Joe nodded sheepishly.

"Looks like I don't have much of a choice, do I?" Jagati shook her head before snagging her bag out of the backseat of the car.

"Nope." Joe couldn't help but chuckle as Jagati followed his wife into the house attached to his garage.

Bas was finishing his meal when he saw an old battered sola-car drive by. It was making a god awful racket. He quickly glanced at plates on the back of the car as was his habit. His eyes widened when he recognized the plates. Jagati!

He quickly threw some money down to cover the cost of his meal before darting out of the diner. By the time he caught up with the car, he saw an older black man pulling it into a garage. As he got closer he realized he didn't see her anywhere. Walking quietly up to the man, he tapped him on the shoulder. The man spun around quickly for his age.

"Boy, you scared the living shit out of me!"

"I'm sorry. I was wondering if you knew where the girl driving this car went?"

"What girl?" Joe looked up at the stranger. He wasn't going to give Jagati up if this man was who she was running from.

"Jagati." Bas kept his gaze steady. His breathing patterns show he's nervous and has something to hide. "I'm not going to hurt you or Jagati, Joe. She's the safest person in the world with me. I can't hurt her."

"I don't know what you are talking about." Joe turned to leave. Bas put a hand on the older man's shoulder.

"Listen to me, Joe. She's in danger. If I don't find her first, another will. He's eventually going to realize that I have double crossed him. Then he will send another after her."

"Who are you?" Joe looked over his shoulder at Bas.

"A cyborg. I'm a protection program placed in this body with the objective of finding and protecting her. It's been my primary protocol since Jagati was a baby. Her father sent me after her to protect her."

"You look real." Suspicion colored Joe's voice.

"I know. Jagati's father made sure I wouldn't be noticeable in this country." Bas touched a spot on his wrist. A small panel opened. Inside the panel was a registration tag. He held it out for Joe to examine.

"And if I know where she is?" Joe seemed to be weighing his options.

"Tell me. I'll protect her to the last breath I draw."

"She's in the house." Joe finally replied as he came to his decision.

"Thank you, Joe. You won't regret this."

* * * *

Jagati sighed as she stood under the hot spray of the shower. She couldn't believe how wonderful it felt. She never heard the bathroom door slide open and then close again. She was unaware of the fascinated gaze which lingered on her silhouette. After rinsing her hair, she turned the water off and reached out to grab a clean towel. She gasped when it was handed to her. She could tell by the color of the skin that it wasn't Lilith. The golden bronze of the skin was unfamiliar to her. It wasn't the darker skin of her people but maybe her father had gotten desperate and hired an outsider.

"Jagati, dry off before you take a chill," Bas said softly.

Bas? Jagati stiffened. She was hearing things! Wrapping the towel around her tight, she slowly peeked through the shower curtain. Leaning against the sink was a man who reminded her of the model who appeared on so many of the romance novel covers. He'd been a very popular during the late 1900's. Fabian, or was it Fabio? Hell I don't remember!

Bas watched as her shadow backed away from the curtain. He'd almost smiled when he saw her light green eyes peek out. When she backed away from the curtain, he could've kicked himself. Of course, she wouldn't recognize me. I've never had a body around her.

"Jagati, come out. I won't hurt you."

"Who are you?" she demanded still huddling against the shower wall.

Drawing a deep breath, he pushed off the counter and pulled the curtain open. He reached out and pulled her out of the tub. He wasn't expecting the reaction that he got. She swung wildly at him, catching him under the eye with a stray fist. As he tried to restrain her, he slipped on the water on the floor and fell, taking her with him. He tried to catch his breath as he laid flat on his back with her on top of him. Grabbing her wrists, he stared up at her red face.

"Calm down, Jagati. It's me. Bas."

"Bas?"

"Yes. Your father had me placed in this body. I'm suppose to find you. I'm suppose to protect you. Just like I always have."

"I don't believe you. Let me go!" Jagati started struggling again. Bas growled before rolling her under him. Pinning her with his larger body, he laid on top of her restraining her. I'm in serious trouble. I can feel every inch of her little body against me! An unfamiliar tightening in his lower body surprised him.

"Stop!" He leaned his head against hers. She stared up at him angrily. Taking deep breaths, he tried to calm the rioting of his blood. He'd not been prepared for this.

"What do I have to do to prove who I am?"

"Tell me something only Bas would know."

"You like to watch the rain fall. You sit in the window seat in your room and watch it. You love romance novels and you play a mean game of chess. And I begged you not to leave me."

Not good

I'm not sure why all the positive comments have been left, this is not good story writing. The characters are paper thin and the plot is rushed. Where are the emotions? Where is the feeling? Who are these people?

Just because it's free doesn't mean it's good.

Will there be more?

This is a very good beginning... I would love to read more. Very intresting storyline. I must admit, I never thought a story like this would capture my attention but you balance the computer and human natures in BES so well that it is a wonderful read.
