EPILOGUE
For the next three weeks, we spent almost every night at either my place or hers, making love late into the night. Sally started getting nervous because she was late, even though we used condoms after the first time. One night she cooked chicken Kiev in the style that earned her the top grade in her class. While I was eating, she excused herself and went to the bathroom. She came back a few minutes later with a stick in her hand. It was negative.
"Wanna try again?" I asked.
"I wasn't trying the first time," she answered. "But Trish is getting an apartment in Denver, 'cause her airline's hub is there. What do you think?" She waved her arms like a model showing the place off. "Nice neighborhood?"
"Nice neighbors," I agreed.

NorthGuy22over 11 years agothat said I wouldn't have minded if this took it's time a little more. Without having a slower process where he starts to want sally instead of alice there's a bit of nagging doubt about whether he'd go for his old crush if he had the chance

Anonymousabout 13 years agoCorrectly. Alice was kind of a bitch it sounds like. He pined over her & she either didn't know or didn't care. Sally liked him in the same way he liked Alice, but unlike Alice to him, he did like Sally as a friend. It took Alice leaving for him to finally choose the right woman. In the end he did get the girl next door, just not the one he expected. Great story.
