"OK" I said, "we'll try counseling."

She ran over to me, fell to her knees and hugged my legs as hard as she could, crying and saying "Thank you", "I love you", "I'm sorry", and "I'll do anything to make it up to you" over and over again.

Epilogue:

One year later, our family is stronger than ever. Counseling did a world of good for us, and we're as strong as we ever were. As beautiful as she is, Sarah still gets hit on constantly, but she firmly and completely refuses all comers. Emily is still cancer-free, is back in regular school, and has even started dating. Sarah got another job, this time as a receptionist in a law firm, one run by a militant feminist who specializes in sexual harassment cases. I'm pretty sure that I don't have to worry about her having to sleep with clients there. I'm also sure her boss hates me because I have a penis, but what can you do? The future is bright for all three of us, and that was all we wanted. As a wise man once said, Life goes on.

I agree with ncdeepdiver... tough to read because of the ethical dilemma and the wife's complete lack consideration or communication with her life partner. "What he doesn't know won't hurt him"

Counselling, medical screening and a post-nuptial agreement are a must if he intends to move forward as a means to protect himself. I think if they stay together, a low-cost symbolic divorce now would be an amazing punishment to levy on the wife in a story.

"I will try to accept what you did to us, however well-intentioned, but I can't stay married to you. I want a divorce. If you want a chance to prove your love to me, this is what I need. I am not leaving you nor our daughter but it will be a legal divorce based on irreconcilable differences. We will not move out of our home and I will continue to 'love and honor you, to have and hold, in sickness and in health, forsaking all others until death do us part', just as I have since the first time I said those words at our wedding."

"From this day forward we will be married in all ways except on paper. Our failed marriage will be the burden you have to bear. A symbolic reminder that there are consequence to your actions. You did not love nor trust me enough to include me in your decision or give me a chance to help US find a solution."

Then later in life, he can ask her to marry him as a final gesture of forgiveness, acceptance and understanding.

That was a tough read.

Then I sat and though about what I would and wouldn't do to save one of my son's lives.

Would I lay my life down to save theirs. Yes, without a doubt. Is prostitution one's body to get the money needed worse than laying your life down? That's a question for each individual to ask.

The story doesn't say where the story is set but there are many places where treatments are greatly reduced if you don't have the money to pay.

Overall, a good story!

Pretty effed up story. What the writer wants us to believe is that the ends can justify the means. Not so fast.

What if, instead of whoring herself out, she was given the same amount to kill someone?

How about given the same amount to divorce her husband?

How about given the same amount to assist somebody to drug, tie up and sodomize her husband?

So, no I don't buy into this lock, stock and barrel.

As a husband and a father, I can see all the issues. But it is a LOT more complicated than the story. What if she got HIV? Then there would be another expensive illness to deal with. Of course, there is also the "little" issue that she failed to discuss with her husband what she was doing BEFORE doing it.

Bumped it up to a 5 after reading the BTB comments.

I often wonder if the BTB commenters are actually in a relationship!, and, if they are, wish their partner well!
