Walk/exercise every day. Keep safe foods in the house. I'm pretty healthy because I fight it. I do understand what you're saying in your poem--problems with vision and memory. I laugh about the memory thing. I actually use it to my advantage. "I was suppose to do what? I don't remember that." lol My grandmother was diabetic or around here: "Oh, bless her heart, she's got the sugar." :)
Boy, did I feel the pain in this one! I'm the opposite- hypoglycemia, which has similar symptoms. What really kills me is the memory loss, and I don't listen to the doctor about eating right, and I'm heading towards this terrible disease. Be smart (unlike me) don't let it beat you like the others. If this is a bio, big hugs!! I hope you felt better once you vented. But I think you know the truth- it is only temporary, isn't it? I thought you did a wonderful job with this poem, and it's so real life. Thanks for sharing. More---> (((((hugs))))
Your realism brings it home. Days filled with pain. Life filled with uncertainty. Just remember 'Do it it's your life
don't give it up!'
I felt this one as I read it. Fully emotive. Touching is the revelation of your words. Well done.
makes real the horror so many live with each day.
Here's hoping for a stem cell miracle...
Carrie.
The emotion and pain as the words "YOU WILL NEVER TAKE ME" jumped off the page giving me chills...
~Honey
this is more common than not,
sad what one has to go through on a
daily basis to survive,
and sadder are those who take
the days for granted,
that have not this to face
in the life of TYPE II

The essense of people leading lives filled with uncertain nightmares and anxieties. This poem so clearly reveals their many concerns.
O
Being totally dependent on Insulin and a full blown diabetic since I was 7 years old I really appreciate and can fully understand the anguish in your poem. Yuck, those needles and you prompted me to do a little count. Here's my total for last year: 840 self-injections, minimum 730 lancet pricked fingers. I'm now 28 years old and I know I won't get a Guiness Record but I've endured more than 15,330 injections and no end in sight. But I look on the bright side, I'll never have any erectile dysfunction.
Thanks again.
