I hope that you continue. The story was just getting good and you ended it.

I don't understand why you repeatedly make mention of the pandemic and then have the characters defy just about every medical mandate that's been issued. First off, I'm really not browsing Lit in the hopes of being reminded of the awfulness right outside my door(which is easier to do when the title or description make mention of it). Second, if you are gonna remind everyone of it, you could at least write something that doesn't go out of it's way to encourage the exact things people shouldn't be doing right now.
