Great Finish

Felt like real life more than a story. Very nicely done. Thanks for a good read.

Outstanding work

Nicely done, jack. Flashback stories often don't work but yours did. Thank you.

This one is a 110%

What a great story - wish we had a thermometer over 100. Very moving, erotic, at times funny, at times sad, romantic, realistic... Well done JS.

Oh for same acarage around Georgetown, Tx

Good story as always, except for the location. I don't think there is a single working cattle ranch around Georgetown, which is north of Austin, not east. If you did find such a place, you couldn't afford to ranch the land, it's worth between $20K and $200K and acre.

<p>

Aside from that, I loved the story. I thought you showed great insight into the way young people think and the way that their hearts are broken. You never get over your first heartbreak but if you're lucky, you don't get stuck with it either.

Forgive me if I'm wrong

But she still had a "Love Jones" for the Rodeo Rider fifty years later? A woman can only serve one Master. Huibby got screwed. Sorry for the score, but I like my Heroes to win.

what grandmas do

sharing mistakes and love is what grandparents are supposed to do. Hopefully our young learn from our history. Conroe in the early 60s had less than 10,000 folks and was a 50mile trek from downtown Houston. IH45 was just reaching out to it from Houston. Grandma in small town Conroe, where everyone knew everyone, would have had a lot to deal with. Glad your story had good ending.

Sheer perfection

Perfect. One of the very best stories I've read about what real world love is really all about.

Reality

In reality,Rosalie was just a slut.

AnonymousAnonymousover 2 years ago

Righto, Nitpic: this here Rosalie slut picked out her "Clint Eastwood" as well as her "imperfectly perfect" lover a la that Nat Geo photog-traveler from "The Bridges of Madison County" in the shape of this Clint-y first love. Why, actually, goddanged Story Clint resembles "multi-relationship-seeking-drone, grossly-unwilling-to-be-ever-tied-down-to-one-vag" Clint Eastwood, and that Bridges of MC Robert Kincaid to a T, yessiree!

Anyone of you notice that?

That said, i kinda reckon this story was a stolen one. Author here don't write like this usually. Something Fishy burnin'...

I always loved the duet from Bonnie Raitt and John Prine.

I now have a mental image that is a perfect backdrop to the song.

Well done - 5 stars
