Click hereShe stopped at the door and he wondered what she was waiting for, because everything that had ever been between them had ended.
Finally she turned back to look at him and he couldn't believe the tears that ran down her face.
"Why couldn't you grow up, Bobby? Why couldn't you become a man? I loved you, but I couldn't keep loving a man I didn't respect and I haven't respected you in a long time."
He found himself smiling sadly at her.
"I guess the old folks were smarter than we thought, Gail. You remember, my grandfather, your grandfather, all your friends. Everybody told us we'd never last, that we just came from two different worlds. We knew better though, didn't we? What do kids know?"

"But I'm not sorry we tried, Gail, you hear me. Even now, I'm not sorry we tried to make it work."
Then she was gone.
This is so infuriating. Maitland would have castrate Cameron in court. Some time my ass. He would have got 6-7 and her deserved every hour. I guess it is a good story tell...what little there was of it... I got so mad I almost broke my laptop.
That was so awful on so many levels that I find my vocabulary severely challenged as I seek a way to convey my horror at what I've just read. Hallmark or Mills and Boon would flatly reject this premise on the basis of the damage it could cause their reputation were they to fly with it.

I have to believe if he's "that type of man" he would never sign papers letting his wife's lover off scott free and that given who the prosecution is, lover boy would do serious time for that bad a beating. It crosses into a felony and he'd spend years in prison. That alone would be worth the suffering for "that type of man". And it would certainly be worth it to see his about to be ex-wife suffer for years. Money can't buy that type of revenge. And unless he signed an iron-clad pre-nup, he have substantial money after the divorce.
