Very nicely done ...

in showing life as it really was in another, more simple time. It's so nice to read a story from a female author that describes the emotional rollercoaster that real people experience in life. Too many of the stories here by male authors read like a checklist of tasks to perform. I particularly liked the description of the reasons why people marry. Real love (agape - serving one another) comes from living and sharing life together. It sure isn't the infatuation or lust of the first period of time people are together. That disappears soon enough and then people have to settle down for the hard slog of living together. Not that anyway would know that from stories on Lit except for a few notable ones such as this story. <P> I’m not a fan of submitting a chapter at a time. I think it detracts from the impact as the reader loses track of the details of what went on in prior chapters. Anyway, I’m eagerly waiting for the next part. Thanks for writing. Phil

Very nice

A wonderful job.

The writer caught the flavour of time and place very nicely. And she did a very good job of describing both the joy and uncertainty of two inexperienced people's first time together.

Well done!

Good Story--Quality Writing

An 86 year old woman who is on her deathbed takes us back to 1921 and the start of her lifes journey. There are some interesting descriptions of what life was like back then in a very small town in Vermont. The writing is very good with excellent character developement so far, and it seems to be the beginning of a really interesting story.

Good start

An excellent beginning to the story. Well-crafted prose with interesting and believable characters. Good hook and nice pacing to the tale.

Will the romance survive an affair?

How you are going to insert an affair in the midst of this sweet romance without souring the spirit of the Romance – that is the question. Seems like a high toll to me, and that’s why I’m going to impatiently wait for the next chapter. You brought the period you described to life in a way that only a person who lived through it could (or perhaps someone who has done a very thorough research). One way or another, it’s a very compelling read.

Well Done

It appears that this is autobiographical but regardless, this is a well written and warm tale of a young girls experiences through those years leading up to WWII. I, for one, look forward to additional chapters.

GREAT

Act 1 had it all, you made it so vivid I could see it. Made me want to find a pack of none filtered Camels. And smoke them in the bathroom with the window open so my parents couldn't smell it. If you can keep this ball bouncing it's gona be a hell of a story.

Great read

I have to come clean with you on this.

I have never been one to indulge into the romance stories for they just didn't seem to hold my attion for very long.

You have a gilft to write and your words kept me involved as I kept reading this story.

I love how it starts with the old women in the hospital bed laying there in a coma and starting to tell her story of her affair. That my dear sucked me right in.

As to why that grabbed my attion I will share with you in another chapter.
