To the last comment: Yep, it is. I'm impressed (and flattered) that you made the connection--especially since I hadn't remembered the "Shelled Shocked" one was posted here myself. This one is actually the original version--and the shell shocked one was a later rework to fill a military slot on another Web site. Sorry about that, but stories are repurposed for fresh audiences--and it's a good exercise for writers to find new angles for material. I hope my offerings overall don't shortchange readers. (There's a completely new one coming up in a couple of days.)

Actually, from what I recall, "Day the Earth Moved" was the original story when I first read it on Nifty or one of those other sites -- then was re-written as "Shell Shocked." For what it's worth, I think this version is superior.
