Writer of the Year?

The best story I've ever read on Literotica.....in ANY category!

sacksackover 18 years ago
not bad....

started off rather slowly and your writing is rather dry and matter of fact. The sex scenes were abrupt and over too soon to make much of an impression. I think this story would have been much more effective spread over 2 Literotica pages, with some of the more superfluous passages deleted.

The best yet?

I've been blessed to read several of your stories and this ranks with and perhaps exceeds any of them. Congratulations and Thank You. Ronnie W.

This is the best I have read in a long time. It keeps you intrested and on your seat. If you don't keep this storie line going it would ba a crime, there are so few stories that realy qualify for the honor of being a series, this one has it all. Thank you so much for taking the time to write such good stories.

Great Story

For me story is actually the most important aspect - the narrative itself. This one is outstanding. It stands alone.

Very nice

A wonderful story which I look forward to seeing a sequel to... I would have given this a 90 percent but that wasn't there... anyway I feel like this doesnt deserve a 100 because they got married too fast and it was a little unrealistic... Also, because it happened so fast it felt like they were getting married because they enjoyed having sex with each other, not because they loved each other. Anyway keep up the great work!!!

GREAT Story

This was a terrific story. The conversations were too stilted but that can be fixed with some good editing. Have someone else edit your story and WRITE a SEQUEL! I really enjoyed this one!

This was truly a great read. There aren't enough superlatives to describe it. It is the new standard vy which I will measure future "loving wives" stories.

Great Story

I knew several men during my 17 years in the Corps who later became generals and one or two of them were like your hero in this story. Knew a lot more enlisted guys like this though. Please keep writing, I have much to learn from how you do it.

What a moving story!

I would not try the folly of improving on the eloquence of those who have commented before me, but I wholeheartedly agree on the high quality of your story. It is truly wonderful to find something like this which inspires, touches, stimulates and nearly overwhelms you. Thank you,

Wonderful story

But I couldn't help but notice the personal use of aircraft, fuel, personnel, etc that was taken for granted in a time where we thought we had more resources than we do. I sure don't begrudge those who serve the benefits they deserve, but limits on the use of government equipment by those of flag rank are also appropriate to set an example.

Another great one

Excellent Romance

Worth a 5!

Much easier to suspend disbelief in a romance story than a BTB story, in my opinion. So even if the pace of the twobwhirlwind romances is incredibly fast; hey if it worked for William Shakespeare in "Romeo and Juliet", why not for Gray Eagle286?

A few quibles, though. Why the apparent impoverishment of the Mrs. Susanna Bushnell family? No food in the refrigerator, little food elsewhere, Sue Ann had had nothing to eat that day, only one bottle of baby formula, no apparent ability to pay for a landline phone, and no health insurance. [Unless this is to show how long Susanna had been ill and bedridden and Sue Ann's great courage in striking out on her own to find help.] This story was published in 2005. Mr. Busnell, according to the daughter Sue Ann, was "killeded in the war". [Good use of a yong child's speech here.] If he was in the military and died under most circumstances, [e.g. No Dishonorable Discharge, not executed by order of a Court-Martial), Mrs. Bushnell and the children would be entitled to D.I.C. benefits from the VA. This is a nontaxable benefit. The monthly rate for a widow in Dec 2012 was $1215, with an additional $301 for each child under 18. This amount increases every year when the Congress passes a budget, so it would have been a little less in 2005. Not a whole lot but enough to keep the landline bill current. Again, assuming Mr. Bushnell was killed in military service, Susanna would have been eligible for TRICARE for the hospital bills. TRICARE maynot be the best health insurance, but since I became eligible for it as a retired US. Army (Reserve) officer when I turned 60, it's paid all my co-pays. Since Maj. Gen. McDermott gets praised by all the spouses for the great programs he set up to help spouses and deployed families, it seems he should be aware of these programs and try to get Susanna these benefits. [I recognize that the author may have decided to leave these benefits out for dramatic purposes, but they are rsources for poor Susanna.

Next, Maj. Gen. McDermott's father was a Marine MSgt., who "won certain Medals that entitled [him] to compete for an appointment to the Naval Academy." Only one medal, the Medal of Honor, confers that benefit on children of Medal of Honor (MoH) recipients. As a 34-year veteran of the Marine Corps and the son of a Marine NCO, I don't think he would have used the word "won" to describe what his father did. Living MoH normally would use "receive", and the MoH websitecuses the term "recipients". The MoH is not not something you "win".

Other comments have mentioned the use of U.S. Government aircraft for personal use, which could have resulted in the good General retiring as an O-6, instead of an O-8.

And then finally the Navy Cross for saving the SecDef, SecNav, and 20 others by dropping grenade down a mortar tube? While the mortar tube could probably withstand the force of the grenade explosion (depending on mortarvtube size, condition, type of grenade), but really? I suppose it fits in with the overall bombastic style.

Great romance overall though.

just one small detail...

How did Mack contact a dispatcher and request an EMT transport? And then have them take off with the mother but leaving behind the children? Without a legal guardian or relative? In an area being used for a war-game exercise?

SplitAcesSplitAcesover 9 years ago
It just doesn't get any better than this!

Everything else is a perversion of the love shared between husband and wife, and can't hold a candle to it! How anyone can think of bringing more or different people into it is insane.

EMT

The Author didn't explain how the EMT personal turned up.

I mean on page 1 the house phone was disconnected,

there was no mention of a mobile or any other communication device mentioned.

Yet the EMT personal arrived out of the blue?

Having worked in Public Safety for past thirty years it has been my experience that

most of today's phones will still allow you to dial "9-1-1" whether or not you have actual phone service. With the advanced E-911 systems we have in this country, unless it is a mobile phone, it can pinpoint your location without you actually speaking to someone. (This is how the Police can investigate 9-1-1 hang-ups).

It also usually gives a callback number. If dispatch tries to call it back and doesn't get an answer, especially when it gets the "number is not in service at this time" message, they would dispatch us (FIRE/EMS) as well as the Police in case there might be an actual "Emergency In Progress" but the caller can't verbally respond.

Looking forward to Chapter 2.

goatman96goatman963 months ago

nice story line but too simplistic and everything happens too fast. Some misspellings and typos that should not have appeared.

A helicopter is not an airplane; it is a helicopter.

One does not simply fly a fighter jet to a civilian airport and hop out and leave it there unattended. It needs to be in a hanger and under an armed guard 24-7.

AnonymousAnonymous3 days ago

As a retired army enlisted MSG I can relate to some of it but it was fun read for a fantasy. A major general can do some of that stuff but all military (general or not) are aware they are spending the taxpayers money and certain things require certain protocol and regulations be followed.
