"How the hell did you even know she had come home?" I asked not wanting to implicate her attempted seduction. He pointed behind me and I looked over my shoulder. "What the hell is that?" I asked seeing the small tripod figure walking across the surface of a nearby end table.

"That's Marvin," Jon said through gritted teeth. "His back story is a long one."

"Damn I'm close..." I growled moments before I fired my load down Tess's throat.

We all came within seconds of one another. I fell back panting as Tess licked me clean. Once that task was accomplished she snuggled up against her son and accepted his praise like a good pet. She scampered up the stairs and disappeared. We both dressed as we took our seats by the fire. There was a small round table with a bottle of liquor and two hand blown glasses. Jon poured while I pondered the mysterious appearance of the table and the alcohol. The only logical answer was that there was someone else in the room. I reached out with my mind and discovered two clandestine minds close at hand. I smiled as Jon told me they were called the Unseen. They were his personal bodyguards. We sipped the alcohol as I tried to form the proper questions to ask.

"Marvin is a self-aware construct. I discovered a meteor in the vault of the Numenor factory here in London. The alloy that he comprised of is very rare and when I say that I mean on universal terms." He paused while I processed his words. "Marvin is made of what many races call 'star metal'. It comes from a proto-black hole. That is what happens after a massive star goes supernova and collapses onto itself. The creation of a black hole isn't instantaneous it takes time. The alloy is most often mind from the spatial fissures created by the explosion. But on rare occasions the explosion hurls raw star metal out into the universe. Its origins are still a mystery. Does it exist in another dimension and the tear in space/time allow temporary access to that dimension? Who knows. The shell of the device in your hand is comprised of a crystalline version of star metal. It is susceptible to psychic manipulation. It takes a very strong and gifted being to be able to manipulate it."

"Oh my god," I cursed remembering one of Steve's memories about time on a J'Nai maiden world. "There was a massive meteorite that crashed on a J'Nai maiden world. It was absorbing the light as it fell on it."

"That is another of its properties. It can absorb any manner of energy or radiation. That includes mystical, natural or technological. The very wealthy during the Symbiot War were arrayed in star metal armor. If one of them fell in battle his heirs would retire and duel to see who would wear it next. Those were the early years of galactic history. Things have really settled down since then."

"I guess my mind is the key to unlocking this... what the hell do you even call this thing?"

"It was my badge of office if you like. I haven't used it in an age or more. I keep it around because it's too damn powerful to just bury or lose track of. But if I found a worthy candidate he could keep an eye on it for me. Here, let me show you a few basic functions. Maybe that will help spark your curiosity."

I handed him his badge of office and he held it above his head. I could feel his mental command and a heartbeat later the wand had become a rune covered staff. The raw power it gave off was so familiar and just as exciting as the first time I felt it. A second mental command and the device returned to its smaller form and became dormant. He tossed it to me and left me to puzzle it out. He got up and left me with a mostly filled bottle and a puzzle. I poured myself another shot of the alcohol when I realized that it didn't have a label. I looked at the hand-blown glass bottle and saw odd markings along the bottom corners. Steve's memories filled in the gap instantly. The letters were Osirin and they named the contents Sun Brandy. The date corresponded to two centuries earlier. I had to admit Jon lived a pretty sweet life. I set the bottle down and sipped the brandy while I tried to unlock the puzzle.

The sky was beginning to brighten when I made my first real breakthrough. I was able to unlock what I called a mid-form in the device. It was approximately two feet in length, about three inches around and its surface was covered in an intricate circuit board design. I tested the weight and balance of the weapon and it felt eerily comfortable in my hand. The first of the staff appeared and a hooded woman asked me if I was hungry. I told her I was starved and I watched her sashay away. I bet she screamed when she fucked. The thought was formed and the woman stopped, looked over her shoulder and nodded. I felt the blood rush to my cheeks as I learned a valuable lesson.

"Keep your thoughts to yourself Greg." I muttered softly.

The hooded woman reappeared with a silver service on a tray and I smelled the savory scent of coffee. She set the tray down, knelt next to my chair and poured me a cup of the freshly brewed drink. I felt her thoughts brush mine in greeting and I replied in kind. I was about to apologize when she made a remarkable offer. Her thoughts were crisp and clear. If I wanted to share her bed she was open to that since I had made progress on the puzzle. When I asked her about the hood she replied that she wasn't human and her appearance startled some of the other staff. She wore the hood for their benefit. I found her thoughts gentile and accommodating. She held no resentment towards her human coworkers. I informed her that I was also not human. Her thoughts touched deeper and she learned much of my memories regarding the J'Nai.

"Forgive, I didn't mean to peer too deep." Her voice was soft with strong hints of arousal. "You are quite the passionate man. How should I address you, Greg or Voidsinger?"

"I would prefer Greg in public but I am not averse to being called Voidsinger in more private surroundings."

"I understand Greg. Breakfast will be ready shortly. I see that the Master left you a bottle of his prized brandy. He must think quite highly of you. I will remember that."

She got to her feet and headed for what I assumed was the kitchen. I sipped the coffee from its delicate porcelain cup. The coffee was delicious and a bean I was unfamiliar with. I was getting used to the fact that many of the things in Jon's house were unusual if not unique. When you live so damn long you develop a fundamental understanding of certain things. I imagine that wealth, lovers and guilty pleasures came natural to Jon Masters. Another pretty young thing brought in my breakfast. Her skin was the color of ebony but it was her bright blue eyes that I noticed first. She was diminutive standing barely five feet tall but damn was she curvaceous! Her breasts and ass were hard to ignore. When she walked there was a definite jiggle and I fought to keep my thoughts in check. Her face was sculpted to near perfection. She had a noble bearing even though she was carrying a silver platter.

"You made poor Isix blush. She said your thoughts were quite arousing despite being up all night and having enjoyed a trio of beauties. You are going to fit in just fine Mr. Robinson. We are here to serve all your needs as a guest of the Master."

"I will have to return to the real world eventually."

"In that case eat up, you are going to need your strength."

She set the platter down and walked back to the kitchen. As I had with Isix I watched her walk away. This time however she turned to make sure I was watching her. She winked and continued back to work. I lifted the covers from the dishes and found a large English breakfast for my consumption. I began to wonder if the entire female staff had the same attitude towards all the male guests of their Master. I ate slowly and savored every bite. I was still sitting alone by the time I had finished my meal. The girls were sleeping late today or they had a visitor. I found that thought of Jon fucking my daughter didn't bother me so much since he so kindly shared his mother earlier. I couldn't be jealous over who Cindy took to her bed. I was protective but I had no more expectation than she did. I was a little anxious when I thought about him reacquainting himself with Rhea. I had faith in her but something in me had changed. I loved Rhea and she loved me back. Perhaps it was the J'Nai physiology but love and lust were different now. I wasn't thrilled if she slept with him but I would certainly understand.

"Now to finish solving this damn riddle."

I pushed out the negative thoughts. I focused on the task at hand. It was the reason I was so good at my job. I looked at the circuit board to see if that would give me any clues. I drew on the wisdom of the nanites for any hints. My ten generals that formed the top of my tiered consciousness tapped into my optic nerves to see the design. There was a sudden burst of activity as they pooled their resources. The came to a consensus. There were subtle flaws in the design and with their help I pressed a sequence of points on the device opening it. The rush of power was nearly overwhelming. Inside the staff tucked into their sockets were six stones of different hue and different shape. I wasn't foolish enough to remove them since I knew nothing about them. I did take a calculated risk and touch each stone to see if I could determine what if anything they did. For all I knew they could just be containers for raw power.

The first stone was the ruby. I let out a whimper as the power coursed through me again. Once more every ounce of fatigue was driven out of me. After that I felt like something fundamental was happening. I pulled my finger back and waited for the rush fade some before I tried another stone. I placed my index finger on the emerald next. There was no roar of power in my ears no this time there was a growing sense of clarity. All the problems I had been working on over the last few months came to the front and I solved them in mere moments. I brought up the Blink technology and I understood it. It was all so simple now. I saw how to create modular gates a minute or so later. I looked at my tiered consciousness and streamlined it. I removed my finger and the world returned to normal except for those things I had focused my attention on. Red was power and blue improved my intelligence. I had four more to try and I was eager to discover what they did. I guess blue was next. I touched the sapphire and nothing obvious happened. I looked around the room. I was about to give up when I considered the dying fire in the hearth and my jaw fell open. The tiny flames flickered in slow motion. It was obvious that the gem had the ability to alter my perception of time. But how far did that change go?

"Only one way to find out." I muttered. "My voice sounds normal, weird. Let's see how far this effect goes."

I focused my thoughts on the future. There was a flare of scintillating white light. I was still sitting in my chair when Cindy appeared suddenly plopping down in my lab from behind. She slid her arms around my neck and whispered naughty things in my ear. She told me about fucking Jon and how good it felt. I kissed her cheek and told her if she was happy I didn't care. Cindy hugged me and told me her ass was reserved for me though. That's my little girl, she loves her dad. I removed my finger from the stone and the world snapped back to normal. I was alone in my chair. I wonder how long I had to wait for my daughter to appear. While I waited, I decided to continue my exploration of the stones abilities.

"Let's see what you do," I said as I touched the indigo pyramid.

It was like the previous gem, nothing happened right away. I looked around but there were no obvious changes that I could see. While still touching the stone, I reached out with my free hand and picked up my coffee cup. I took a sip and wondered what power this stone possessed. I thought about the other three gems and their abilities. Red was obviously all about energy. Green was mind or thought related. Blue affected my perception of time. What was the relationship between them? One of my nanite generals brought something to my attention.

'It is our consensus that some of the stone might be connected to primitive ideals of the basic elements that make up the world.'

I felt so stupid. Of course, they are! Red is fire or chi in the Chinese belief system. Green is mind or air. Blue is time or water. So, indigo might be earth or matter. I looked at the cup in my hand and imagined it transparent. As soon as I thought it the cup transformed into a glass-like material. The patterns were still there though difficult to see. I tried to restore it back to its former state and the stone did the rest. I was relieved. I thought Jon might get upset if I started messing with his antiques. The middle stones were the four basic elements what were the outer two? I pulled up more information on pagan beliefs and the elements. Once I got passed the four prime movers the list grew exponentially. I rethought it on the other end of the spectrum. What scientific forces were at work. I listed them off, energy, thought, matter and time. What was left? If there was time there had to be space. I was stumped on the last stone. I touched the diamond and thought about teleporting to the empty couch, nothing happened. I tried the amethyst next and the moment my finger made contact I was sitting on the couch. The odd thing is there was no sense of inertia. It was like being in an accelerating car but without the feeling of sinking into my seat. I was in the chair one moment and on the couch the next.

"What the hell does the damned diamond do?" I cursed softly and then I remembered. "I am so fucking stupid!"

I touched the viridian gem and felt that rush of clarity. I looked at the stones and the obvious element that was missing was life itself. Could the diamond heal or hell even raise the dead? The very next thought was why would Jon give up this kind of power? I cleared my mind and thought about someone that had lived so long. What would you crave? Once you have literally done everything and owned it all what would you need? The answer was obvious, simplicity. I would want a nice calm life with creature comforts and a circle of people I could trust. I removed my finger from the emerald and willed the device closed. Did I really want this? Was I setting myself up trouble?

I got up refilled my cup with fresh coffee and returned to my chair. I sipped it as I weighed the positive and negative sides of accepting this relic into my life. I closed my eyes and found my fear of the unknown winning the fight. The ramifications of such power while intoxicating carried some serious burdens. I might be able to alter events that Steve has set into motion and save his soul. But at what cost and did I have the right? Would any effort on my part alter his course? Couldn't he just backtrack and undo what I have done. It would be a never-ending dance of time travelers. The thought of that kind of temporal shenanigans made my head hurt. It may be impossible to alter Steve's course towards damnation. A sudden weight on my lap pushed me out of my emotional spiral. I opened my eyes and there was Cindy grinding her ass against my groin.

"You looked so sad," she purred in my ear. "Maybe I could suck you off and brighten your mood up. I just wore our host. He must have drained his balls down my throat three, no four times. That doesn't even consider the four times he came inside my tight little pussy. But nobody and I mean nobody taps this ass but daddy."

"If you are happy," I began and remembered the vision the sapphire had given me.

"Anything wrong," she asked but I shook my head.

"Just a little déjà vu. I can ask one of the staff to get you some breakfast. Are you hungry?"

"Yes, and food would be good too."

"I have a question for you. If you could go back and change something, would you?"

"Hmm," she said making a thoughtful face. "No, you always said that mistakes are part of what makes a person who they are. Besides, I don't mind sharing my daddy."

"Out of the mouth of babes," I muttered and she blushed. "I love you kitten."

"Just so you know I am going into town after breakfast. Do you need anything?"

"I don't know. I've never been to London before. What kind of shopping are you doing?"

"I need some things for the masquerade party tomorrow night. Didn't Jon tell you about the party? I hope it wasn't a surprise. Damn it, I am sorry daddy! Can I make it up to you?"

"You are insatiable," I muttered as the hooded Osirin appeared and informed Cindy that her meal would be served in the dining room. "Be a good girl and maybe you'll get some in your stockings later."

Cindy grinned mischievously and followed Isix to the dining room. I couldn't help but smile at her single-minded determination. Isix returned with a fresh pot of coffee. She set in on the table before taking Cindy's place in my lap. She leaned back and one of my arms slid around her waist.

"I am unaccustomed to human mating rituals. Could you help me out?"

"Well, this is definitely a good beginning. But, I have things I have to do. Are you available tonight?"

"Master is kind," Isix replied with a deep purr. "If he wishes we can exchange techniques with one another."

"That would be nice," I told her as I lifted her hood for a peek at the face beneath.

Isix explained that she was a Bastet Osirin. Her people were akin to the felines of earth. Her fur was tawny with white stripes forming a traditional tiger pattern. Her eyes were the color of honey and when the bright light hit her pupils they constricted to slits. She explained that like humans the Osirins were an engineered people. I asked her about why the Osirins were on Earth. The story she told was heart breaking. They had been a space faring race for tens of thousands of years. They had seeded many empty worlds and they created a jump point on Earth. It was a perfect place with an iris orbiting our sun. When I asked her what an iris was she touched my thoughts and shared a memory of the massive alien artifact circling our sun. Put simply an iris was a permanent gate that led to a different part of the galaxy. The race that created humans opened the iris in the hopes we would one day leave Earth in search of new worlds. The other side of the gate was a solar system with two habitable worlds.

"Did the same race that created humans give rise to the Osirins?"

"Oh yes, they seeded thousands of worlds. Most of them are bipedal sharing similar characteristics. The J'Nai are also children of the Anunnaki. The last race touched by them were the humans. That was another reason why we came here. Sadly, we are the last. Our home world was exposed to a gamma ray burst and our people that didn't perish were rendered sterile. A few other colonies survived but when they raced home to help they were ambushed and destroyed. The enemy remains a mystery to this day and we fear they will come to Earth and finish what they started."

"I understand," I said. "We face the devourer of souls when we die. I guess both our races are trying to survive. What kind of costume do I need tomorrow night?"

"Master Jon is going to provide that for you," she purred. "I volunteered to help out."

"What are you going to be wearing?"

"That is a surprise," she said as her voice dipped low.

Isix's head perked up suddenly and she got to her feet and dashed off. I sat up and saw a grinning Rhea standing at the foot of the steps. She turned and headed for the dining room. I got to my feet to join Rhea when a sudden psychic chill hit me between the eyes. My hand tightened around the relic instinctively as I reached out for the source of the disturbance. It was coming from the front of the mansion. I headed that way and was surprised that Rhea hadn't joined me. Had she somehow not felt it? I walked towards the front door and saw Jon Masters speaking with a tall swarthy man dressed in an expensive dark suit. His hair was long, his features pleasant but his eyes were the color of jet and as dead as any corpse.
