Besides, didn’t she say she’d give up Jerry? Putting the blame on him his just wrong.

If she found she couldn't live with that she should have told him. He likely would have left her, with the same result, then his guilt would at least have some basis in fact.

A long, long time ago. I had a girlfriend who died in a car crash. I was in college at the time and several friends were there to help me out with my pain. One was a woman going back to school in her mid 30’s who was married. She actually gave me a ride on Wednesday’s after my last class and we would talk. A couple of months after my girlfriend died, she hit on me; she leaned over and kissed me on the lips as I was getting out of her car. I honestly don’t know why I did it but I kissed her back and we made out for a while before I stopped it. Long story short, I think she was drawn to my pain and her desire to help me combined with whatever she wasn’t getting in her marriage led her to wanting to start an affair with me. It didn’t go further than that, but it could have. So when I read this story, I kinda see it from her side, even if I wouldn’t have made the same choice. As for killing herself, that I just don’t get, but then again, I’ve never been suicidal. As to his thinking he is partially at fault for her death, she made that choice all on her own. But ultimately, if she felt the need to look elsewhere for satisfaction, she should have discussed it with him first. Anything else is a betrayal of the rules of their relationship. Why else keep it a secret for 2 years if it wasn’t?

I liked your story I found emotional attachment to the wife. I am in your corner. Evidently most people read to fast or don't comprehend. Bullet points:

1. age difference 20yrs [sparingly using M 55-60 F 35-40]

Okay, the capacity for a woman to love multiple persons a day is shown everyday. Husband, multiple children, close relatives, ect. Women usually are closer attached to their children and spouse, more, than most men are, and end up in a empty nest syndrome. Men (husbands) don't involve themselves that deeply, to that extent necessarily.

So the loving of two partners I can see in this story. I believe there is a lot more in the story we don't see, but that is the way my mind comprehended this story.

1) Can a person be in love with more than one person? Answer: of course. Anyone who has children can attest to that. Loving two people doesn't mean you divide your total love in half. It means you multiply your love by two.

2) Can a polyamorous marriage work? Again, of course. (Just ask our pal Kimi.) I would imagine it ain't easy, though. Which is why you don't see many of them.

3) Is Sally a deceitful woman? Once again: of course. If she were honest and upfront about her sexual needs and desire to be with two men at once, maybe she could have made this work. Instead, she screwed herself by cheating behind hubby's back.

First off - suicide is NEVER the solution to any problem. The only time I can condone suicide is in the case of Doctor assisted death due to a painful, fatal condition that is about to overwhelm someone's body. Doing something like this because she wants to have her cake and eat it too was just an ugly decision. But a man that marries a woman 20 years younger MUST expect problems down the line. Why would he even consider doing something so selfish? And why would she commit suicide? He leaves her and she has Jerry to love. End of story. Sorry but this was just an awful conclusion that ruined any chance this story had of being entertaining. Not good. Not good at all.

I liked the duality of potential blame for the unfortunate demise in the story. Communication breakdowns and self /significant other deceptions existed with each of the main characters. They were both dysfunctional in terms of being a healthy couple. In the end , its my opinion that the wife who had a higher degree of blame suffered the most .

Yet her suicide was at least partially a selfish act because she knew her husband loved her and would suffer. But its beyond me to fully rebuke an individual not in their right mind . So what does the survivor do ?

To me , the key is to just survive and focus on making today just a bit better then the day before. The grieving process is a rough road indeed and yet it must be traversed to the best of one's ability.

The mc's choice might have left her thinking she had no alternative, but he didn't kill her.

Her final words to him were a lie, she couldn't give up Jerry, to the extent that she couldn't live without him, literally.

Several things:

1) If a wife goes through menopause, and loses her sex drive, is her husband allowed to find other women to fuck? Yeah, right!

2) Assuming that we're to accept finding sex buddies is okay, does that make doing it behind doing it behind the spouse's back okay? Should you keep seeing a fuck buddy even as you feel yourself developing romantic feelings towards them?

3) She can't choose between the two loves, so kills herself, getting NEITHER, and robbing both of them of her?

4) She should have just given up lover boy. How long will it be before she gets older and he won't be banging younger, hotter clients?

The ending line killed it for me. Leave that off and it's a sad story about a man who expected his wife to be faithful but she was too unstable. With it in, he's the unstable one and it doesn't work.

I did enjoy your story and encourage you to keep writing. I have no trouble absolving the husband, the wife however has a lot of flaws. The sexual dysfunction of the husband should have many solutions considered by caring communication between husband and wife. He could use dildos on her, possibly a strap on to give the close up thrusting she may need. Vibrators could have helped, male implants to give an erection come in a variety of types. She never even expressed her frustration to her husband which could have given him a chance to address the problem. He might even have come to the conclusion that she could have a strange dick occasionally, though the story seems to make this choice unlikely. The point is he never got the chance to counter offer anything, she just decided on her own to line up someone to fuck behind hubby's back. On top of the instant cheating, this Jerry had just lost a wife and likely was in a very vulnerable place and she placed her desire above either man. Then adding to the hubby's humiliation she states "No, not fucking, it was more like making love" - just what a husband wants to hear, that his wife is not just "only having sex which means nothing but making love" which is allowing another man to not only enter her pussy but also her heart. Devastating. Then she expects him to agree to a shared agreement with almost no time to decide? She also told him she would give up Jerry if she had to, another lie. Is it realistic that the husband would blame himself for her suicide? I wouldn't blame him and few others would either but those close to a suicide know that often a loved one heaps blame upon themselves even though no one else would see it that way. Sally needs to take the entire responsibility for the cause, response and tragic result of this story and can serve an extra turn in hell for giving that last little quip to her husband in the note to make him feel guilty (that if he had just shared her she wouldn't be dead), plus the note doesn't seem to be exclusively for the husband, one last dig! In a real world her note to her husband should have been an apology for her transgressions listed above and hoping he could forgive her and find happiness.

Probably the ending is more realistic, or some of what was mentioned in the over-analysis of the comments.

But the ending I might have liked, could have been her giving up Jerry. After some dissension and talking things through, she gets settled back in with hubby, who, given time for reflection and recognition of her "plight," plus realizing things have been as good or better with her for the last 2 years as the preceeding 2 years, admits to himself that, when the chips were down, she chose him over Jerry. So he comes to her, and they work out an agreement where she can get from Jerry what she cannot from him and so she gets back her lover. Out of gratitude, she loves him so much that their relationship becomes better than at any time before. (Or, alternatively, when she goes back to Jerry, he has found an exclusive relationship and no longer needs or wants her "consolation." Hence, hubby got to offer her what he did not have to give her.)

Maybe that's so unrealistic.

But it's so Literotica.
