the man's a fucking idiot

Fucking around with doses like that is a good way to end up as the first person on the radar for murder since he was the last one at the pharmacy.

Diabetes

I'm thinking the writer doesn't know much about diabetics. It appears she is having a "hypoglycemic" episode meaning she needs something sweet to increase her blood sugar level.... Not decrease it! Playing around with diabetes is very dangerous and it seems like she almost has slipped into a diabetic coma. The writer should stick to sedatives if that is the desired effect. I couldn't finish the story. Non consent is one thing, but using a serious health issue is another.

as a person with diabetes

I am totally amazed that the man was able to get a prescription for insulin so easily (late at night without a doctor's intervention). This isn't something that is easy to obtain. I'm also shocked that anyone with diabetes would not have their dose ready for when they ate. I'll let go the fact that most people with diabetes vary their dose to account for the amount of carbohydrate they eat with that meal instead of having a standard dose (particularly those people with type one) because I am aware that some people do use a standard dose. For what it's worth, I take anywhere from 3.5-7 units with a meal, with an additional 12 units as a base dose--60 (or 19) at a time would kill me.

There are two possible reasons that a person with diabetes would be experiencing the loss of function involved here--I believe that the character was suffering from a hyperglycemic episode (too much glucose in the blood) which would happen if she didn't cover her meal. However, a high would usually not affect her so strongly so quickly. Hyperglycemia tends to affect slowly (especially if a person doesn't tend to keep tight control of their levels (this character seems to be particularly unconcerned as evidenced by the lack of a pen before meals)) and would be likely to make a person irritable and sleepy but not lose function or become unconscious so quickly. A hypoglycemic episode (too little glucose in the blood) would kill her quicker (a brain shuts down without glucose--resulting in unconsciousness and death), but you wouldn't treat it with insulin. Hard candies or smarties would be better.

In other words, I have no idea how the medical science of this story works, and I should. It makes me believe that you as an author know very little about the disease. I understand. The medical science is less important to you than the sex. However, if a disease is a major plot point, you should be able to be more accurate and convincing with its treatment than you are in this story.

Lack of medical knowledge.

Her symptoms were of low blood sugar, not high, so the insulin would have made it worse. When it's low the patient needs candy, orange juice, etc. fairly good otherwise.

Don't feel bad about the haters.

Great story, my lack of knowledge about the medical side made it believable and enjoyable. I would dig similar stuff. Paraplegic, no legs, other disabilities etc. Kinda like the M&M story but non-con. Thanks!
