Too cruel

Not now, later. <P>

What you did now was to deliberately and intentionally betray your husband. You started betraying him while you were sexually fantasing about Chad inseminating you while Ben was making love to you. You wanted sex with Chad. You wanted his baby. As you say you can rationalize it with claims you were "saving" your marriage but at Chad's door you knew you were just doing it for your own selfish self.<P>

"He (Ben) knew he could trust me." And because he trusted you you betrayed him.<P>

And you are betraying him every day even now. Tell me, when you and Ben are having sex (I won't call it "making love" any more) who are you thinking of? Ben or Chad? Hmmmmm?<P>

"I had also betrayed Ben in the worst way I could." Actually, not yet.

You and Ben are still "doomed as a couple." You have just managed to postpone the "unsolvable crisis." It's when Ben does find out, as he will, the hurt and betrayal will be infinitely worse.<P>

Why will he find out? Because Ben's brown hair and brown eye genes are dominant over Chad's blonde hair and blue eyes. Because blood types and Rh factors are different. Because DNA samples are becoming more and more commonplace. Because if he ever has to be a blood or organ donor it won't work.<P>

It's when he finds out...later...that is too cruel. To have invested perhaps years of loving a child that turns out not to be yours? To find out in a horrible fashion? It might even kill him. How much more honest and cleaner it would have been to demand artificial insemination or adoption as a condition to continue the marriage. But no, this was about you and Chad, wasn't it?<P>

Thanks for sharing.

Nice try BUT total failure because the premise is absurd to Nth degree

The entire story revolves around one KEY point. The wife whio is trying to get pregnant found out that her husband had a Vasectomy and He LIED about it. Yet for some reason the wife NEVER talks about it. WHY?

This is a massive Lie on the husband's part and is NOT something a young marriage like this can get past . Ben never told her he had this medical procedure done then lied about a SECOND time.

The wife's argument that outside of the Baby issue the marriage was

" good" is like saying outside seizing Europe Hitler was not that

aggressive.

Some would find fault, some will see this only as another woman cheating. Yet the story has so much more than that. Your success is in going deeper, to reach and describe a basic human need. Very good job,

harry bad fregen are right, this is fucked up. yea, i get he lied about getting snipped-idk why- but harry was on point when he said a young marriage couldnt survive this especially when the wife secretly loves another man. saving the marriage my ass, ppl will use any justification they can think of to not feel guilty about fucking up. ppl can bitch and moan all they want, but life really is black and white. we-humans- add the gray we we feel less guilty about whatever. also, she might not feel bad about the history with chad but her husband would. i sincerly hope you write a part two where ben finds out and leaves her sorry ass. seriously, why the fuck doesnt she talk about the vasectomy? because the only thing i can think of is that she was looking for an excuse and she found it. *sigh* i hate stories like this, they are not good, they are not romantic, theyre just sad and frustrating. im not a torch the bitch kinda guy but neither am i cuckold. why cant someone write a story where if the wife cheats, the husband leaves her and doenst spend yrs wondering if he made the right choice and maybe he should take her back. its bullshit. some ppl stay if not bitter then pissed over breakups.

Did I fucking miss something Harry or are you a simple cunt?

Why would Ben have had a vasectomy? The uroligist said he had a sperm count of someone wh'd had a vs ie almost no chance of fertilizing her. But he hadn't had one and still believed he'd eventually get her pregnant. Deep down I think he kinda knew what was going down and maybe the slut did the good thing. Maybe not. Who gives a fuck. Goodish tale well written but overused. The last line was a familiar cliché.

fregenfregenover 13 years ago
Did Ben have a vasectomy?

The Urologist tells Susan Ben's "sperm count that is similar to a man who has had a vasectomy."<P>

That said Ben's actions incite a lot of speculation: He gets into an argument about him possibly being the problem and won't talk about it. Refuses to get tested when Susan asks and will only do so after her Doctor demands that he does. He refuses show up for the Urology results, refuses to answer the phone, refuses to talk about it at home later.<P>

By his actions Ben seems to know something that he wants to keep hidden. Or refuses to admit to himself. What? And how would he know? Did he actually have a vasectomy? Or did he try to be a sperm donor at some point and found out then that he was sterile? <P>

Curious

Well written

Ignoring the morality issues, the story was well written. The urge to have children is deeply ingrained in women and the background between the two lovers was a strong catalyst. It is certainly not unknown for couples to have children when the man has low sperm count. Maybe it was a bit eggagerated in the story, but I knew a married couple that had given up on having children and then a daughter came along after about ten years of marriage and then a son. There is no doubt that they are the husbands children, by appearance and personality.

Well written

Your work was an easy read. It flows well with in depth characters. Good work and a job well done.

I normally don't comment on the characters or their actions in a story; they belong to you and only you can dictate how they act or react. However this time I will.

I didn't rate the story, even though I enjoyed your writing skills, I didn't like Susan or her actions. All Susan's professing to love her husband was probably true right up to the moment she decides to cheat on him.

I can understand her desire for a family but if it was that important to her and her husband refused to look for alternate ways, she owed it to him and to herself to leave him. The rest of her actions were bull shit.

There's a quote some where that says "It's time to put away childish things", but she didn't put away her fantasy about Chad and at the first opportunity jumped into bed with him.

One of the other comments says that her betrayal is ongoing because her husband will be unknowingly raising another man's child.

If Susan loves her husband and this is the way she acts, I'd hate to be him if she really gets mad at him. You can slant her behavior, saying she loves her husband and never wants to hurt him. But the truth is that even she admitted as she went to Chad that is wasn't about getting pregnant.

So for someone that dosen't comment on characters I seem to have done so at length.

Once again, the writing was very good, the characters well defined, and the plot well thought out. I didn't like the story line but can appreciate your skills. Thanks for the hard work.

Once again, the ignorance of the anonymice shows through.

It's simply not true that a young marriage can't possibly survive this. In fact, it happens all the time. In further fact, some studies have shown that as many as 1/3 of all pregnancies are of doubtful paternity.

What Susan did in this nicely told work of fiction is not at all uncommon, and is well in keeping with human reproductive patterns, and with those of our nearest ancestors.

One of the best things about this story is that the author doesn't shy away from her character's ambivalence about her liaison with her childhood sweetheart. But it requires a truly obtuse reader to make it the focus of the story. In other words, a reader with an axe to grind.

The story is well-written and equally well thought through. I suspect part of twitchiness of the brave anonymice is their recognition that Susan's story could well be their own in some way - perhaps they just get the heebie jeebies looking at their own kids and wondering.

Fact is, in the absence of testing, men can't *know* the paternity of a child unless they've got their wimmin chained up in the yard. It's the natural consequence of the unique human reproductive system - we just don't know. So we either treat women as sexual property, or get over it.

I suggest that the latter is a better way to enjoy a long and happy marriage and a prospering family.

Amazing!

As a possibility what if while Ben and Chad hiked Ben shared the problems he and susan were having with him knowing his sperm count was way too low and her emotional need for a baby. Maybe Ben asked Chad to make a donation and Chad did it. Ben saves face and becomes Dad to the little guy. Chad gets to bed Susan again and ride of into the sunset with no lasting responsibilities. Susan gets a son and to keep her husband.

Those who believe Ben will find out, shouldn't worry. Ben already knows.

Nicely done. A little more detail might have helped Harry etc. but they would probably have dug deeper to find something to bitch about.

Thank you.

Ben probably knows

My mind is going in the same direction as Scorpio's, Ben knows and probably set it up or nudged it to happen. I have mixed feelings about Susan. Ben is an ass not to discuss the fertility issue or adoption. He essentially backs Susan into a corner. For a woman who wants children to live a childless life is a MAJOR thing. Susan had a choice of leaving Ben or living childless, neither being good. When Chad pops up it introduces a new possibility which will lead to a much happier life for her. Yes, she's cheating. She does it to have a baby and to exorcise some old ghosts. She's not planning a affair. It's a messy and dangerous plan but maybe they will end up happy. Good story.

ChagrinedChagrinedover 13 years ago
Rationalization

It is truly amazing how we can rationalize the worst in human nature. The author failed in several area on this story. First, and formost, I see nothing in the wife's actions which would lend me to believe that she loved her husband at all. She might like him and she likes being married, but the husband himself...nope. Also she is amazingly stupid, as is the doctor. Most men who have had the pleasure of having their nuts cut, know that they have to use another form of birth control until the sperm count is ZERO! So if said hubby was producing sperm the same as a man who has had a vasectomy then his count is ZERO! ANY sperm count more than zero CAN lead to pregnancy. PERIOD. The author should have checked this out to make the premise believable AND accurate.

If the woman is so stupid as to have not considered that hubby had a vasectomy (which he must have had) and the doctor hadn't told her (because even a cursory inspect by any competent MD would have revealed it) then she is just plain stupid.

If this was real life, hubby would or should have been joyously celebrating being single again because the kid ain't his and he would have know.

I can't judge the rest of the story because the premise leading up to was just unbelievable.

Cheers

question for the poster WEBOTHDO

are you really this fucking stupid? I know your profile says your are A SWINGER so we know that your grasp of realoty is twisted. But I did not say a young marriage like this could NOT survive the wife not getting pregnant.

Nor did I say young married couple could NOT survive a dubious paternity. What i said you blithering idiot was that the MARRIAGE could not survive the husband and wife' s actions

1) the husband clearly have a vasectomy

2) he lied about it

3) the wife would not talk to him about what HE did

4) the wife and the husband never talked about what this means for them and they as a couple should handle this

5) the wife's solution of fucking her old boyfriend

If YOU are truly a swinger and thw words on your profile are not bullshit

"We view our sexuality - and our marriage - and our life together - as an adventure."....

then the way these two handle the crisis should OFFEND you since they did NOT do this together

Thanks for your comments so far!

I wonder if a few people are not understanding that most stories on Literorica are not really autobiographical?

But I do appreciate some of the constructive comments. I created Susan to see how well I could create a character that acts in ways that I would not. I also tried at least to make her morally ambiguous rather than out and out amoral, thus the attempts to rationalize her behavior.

In the end though, if you see how she really thinks at the time of her betrayal, I think her motives are not what she would like them to be.

I also appreciate the thinking on Ben. Really, I didn't put a lot of thought into his motives. Part of that is the limit of a 1st person narrative, and part is because as far as my writing of this story he's essentially furniture.

But thanks and keep the comments coming. I think I knew this one was going to struggle to break 3 stars with some volatile content!

One other detail

Azoospermia - a total absence of spermatazoa in the semen can be determined by centrifuging. It affects perhaps 1 in 20 infertile men.

True - not common, but what I had in mind with Ben's urologists comments.

But maybe all of you are right with the vasectomy theory. If so, Susan is in trouble as Ben will know the truth.

Poor guy

Wife with only token guilt betrays her wedding vows and gives the hubby another mans baby. She expects hubby to raise her Hugh school boyfriend's kid as his own.

Wow, if a wife did that ti any man she deserves to be thrown into the street.

Save her marriage, that would end any marriage except to a total wimp.

And what happens when chad comes back later looking fort more boinking, and dropping more kids for the husband to raise.

If the author thinks this is a good idea to save a marriage, I feel deeply sorry for anyone they ever have a relationship with because they clearly have no idea of faithfulness nor honesty.

Wow.

but I did not like this story of a cheating btich hiding behind an excuse that she saved her marriage by not only cuckolding her husband for selfish reasons but conceiving a son that is not her husband's. Why not divorce first and then go play all she wants? This level of thinking is juvenile at best.

The MOST treachery possible

And you excuse it with, "to save our marriage". That is treachery. That it saves the marriage is incidental because the woman is bound to have her way, be one unto herself.

I hate this woman, your character. Those like her should be sterilized and cast away as though leperous. She was going to have her way, no matter what about him(her husband).

The writing is excellent and I gave you a 5 because I thoroughly enjoyed hating your character. You brought out emotion in me your reader and did a fine job of that.

And yes, my wife and I - my wife of 30+ very good years, two fine grown kids, and many shared adventures yet to come - even though we are swingers and therefore necessarily twisted (in your bigoted view) and of limited intelligence (don't you wish!) are able to imagine a fictional character whose life includes behavior we might not condone or take as a model - but whose life might have interest as LITERATURE, as in LITerotica.

a bunch of stuff

Nicole,

Several points:

1) Your surprise that many people don’t believe the stories are fiction shows me you have not done your due diligence. I thought I cleared this up with item 20 in What I Learned at Literotica:

20. All stories are autobiographical.

The author may be a woman in one story and a man in another. They are both true.

I don’t really understand how this works, but there are invariably commenters who believe both are true stories.

The author may lose a leg in one story and have it back in a later one. Both stories are true.

Authors are a hardy and remarkable lot. For most people, regrowing limbs would be a nigh-impossible task. Authors are made of sterner stuff.

2) Your purpose: I created Susan to see how well I could create a character that acts in ways that I would not. I also tried at least to make her morally ambiguous rather than out and out amoral, thus the attempts to rationalize her behavior.

I wrote Fifth Place to see if I could rehabilitate a character I made unlikable at the beginning of the story. More than 23,000 words later that was almost beside the point.

You have to experiment to improve. What you learn may have nothing to do with what you started out to accomplish.

I think you could have better accomplished what you intended by having Susan go into it with the focus on the rationalization with the nagging thought that it was a rationalization rather than essentially an overt admission to herself which made subsequent rationalization very difficult.

3) What we put out there to read is what we think we wrote. Readers usually tell us what we actually wrote.

We (ought to) know why our characters do what they do. We know back story on their lives that is never written. That makes us biased when we have to evaluate whether we’ve written what we intended and only people who are not us can confirm that.

I’ve had that point driven home many times when readers’ reactions let me know that what was “obvious” in my head did not make it to the page.

4) What flows from 3 is Ben did not have a vasectomy. Except for the argument about getting tested there was not a single bit of evidence from her perception of his behavior. With all the opportunities to hesitate, to not look her in the eye, to evade a question, to subconsciously phrase a response in a revealing way, Susan has not reported any suspicion.

Even if Susan hadn’t noticed, you could have put it in there as evidence for the reader. A story being in 1st person doesn’t make everything the person relates true. A 1st person character can never lie to the reader. They can lie to everyone else. They can be obtuse and misreport what is going on. They can be deluded and misreport what is going on. But they can’t lie to the reader.

So if you had wanted to suggest he had a vasectomy you could have done that easily by having him do something Susan related to us but didn’t attach any significance to.

What I’m saying for the reader is that if the author had the opportunity to give us a clue and failed to do it, that’s because the author did not intend or believe that fact to be true.

I know there are many haphazard stories and you can’t rely on those authors to understand they must give us those clues.

Nicole clearly did not write this haphazardly.

5) I would like to explain the concept of 1000 to 1 odds. That means that, on average, we can expect the event to happen 1 time in 1000 chances (alright, actually 1001). It means it is an uncommon occurrence, but far from an impossibility. 1,000,000 is 1000 times less likely. But if you’re talking about a human characteristic or behavior, given the world population, it’s still going to happen a bunch of times.

My point is that when comments suggest something is unrealistic, they often really mean unlikely. There are people who serially kill people. When I meet someone a little bit off, I don’t immediately jump to the conclusion I’ve met a serial killer not because it is unrealistic, they exist, but because it is unlikely, though obviously possible.

To make the point specific, when I read two works by an author and a main character has lost a leg in the first and the main character has not lost a leg in the second, I consider the odds 1000 to 0 that both are true. It’s not just unlikely, it’s unrealistic.

I hope you find this helpful and constructive. You are skillful but no writing is perfect, except possibly To Kill a Mockingbird.

- RPSuch

On one hand I thought the story was well-written. On the other I think the wife's motives were more selfish than anything. They never address his low sperm count or their various options. This marriage isn't "saved" it is delaying the inevitable destruction.

I enjoy your characters and how rationally they deal with the situations they find themselves in. I've met women like Susan. Wanting a child is all-consuming for them. It's hard for men to understand this, and I wouldn't even try, but it's not hard to see how she might do something like this if the situation presents itself. I'm slowly working through your previous stories and enjoying them all.

Vulcan_in_OhioVulcan_in_Ohioover 13 years ago
Agree with some, disagree with others

1) There is no indication in this story that Ben had a vasectomy and was concealing it; it is much more likely that he was ashamed that he was infertile. It is very upsetting to both men and women to find this out. There can be a lot of denial and refusal to face it, and it can create stress in a marriage, eventually leading to divorce.

2) Even for men with almost no sperm, test-tube techniques usually enable them to be biologic parents. If there truly are no sperm at all, then they either have a complete blockage (like being born with the equivalent of a vasectomy on both sides, and trust me, this does happen), or the testicles are not producing sperm. If there is a blockage, then many times it can be corrected or at least, the sperm aspirated and test-tube techniques employed to achieve pregnancy. If the testicles are not producing sperm, then the testicles would be quite small, which would have raised questions before marriage (since Susan has had at least one comparison).

3) Ben is supposed to be the bookish, studious, and smart one (compared to Chad) and presumably would have known, or suspected, something about himself and his impaired fertility if he had very small testicles -- let's face it, guys check each other out in the showers in high-school gym class all the time. It is inconceivable to me that he would not have discussed this subject with his future wife, just as women who know they have a fertility problem would discuss this with their fiances, assuming eventually they might want children.

4) What is going to happen when Susan wants another child? As another reader speculated, will she find a way to visit Chad again?

5) If Ben "suspects," as Scorpio and others indicate, and he is OK with it, then why wouldn't he have been OK with anonymous donor insemination? Couples using this method for starting a family are encouraged to have sex afterward, so that emotionally they connect and the husband feels that there is at least some chance, however small, that the child might be his. This helps on an emotional level, if not on a logical level.

6) While it obviously does happen in real life, and some percentage of husbands never find out, there is also a percentage of husbands who do discover they were cuckolded. Talk about a strain on the marriage! I personally know of a man who is divorcing his wife of 12 years for this very reason. And he is suing everyone under the sun who participated in the deception -- the wife, the biologic father, the wife's doctor who knew about it, and so on. Susan is going to be walking a tightrope on this one. Marriages only have a 50% chance under ordinary circumstances; using a man to raise another man's child and hoping there will be no discovery significantly lowers the marriage's chance for success.

7) Susan was selfish -- what she did, she did for Susan. She broke her wedding vows. How many other lies will she tell her spouse in the future? I guess lots -- every time she tells Ben that "his son" is misbehaving, she will be lying. You do the math.

8) Susan will cheat again. Whether it will be for conceiving another child, or some other rationalization, she will do it. It will be easier now that she has gotten past the guilt of doing it the first time. Once a cheater, . . . .

9) The writing was very good. I would love to write a sequel to this from Ben's point of view, if I had time, and if I had permission. I probably would not write as well, but I suspect more readers would like to see a bit of "torch the bitch" than not. I would like to know how Susan would feel if Ben had a one night stand and she were to find out? If she would be angry, then she would be the hypocritical kind of cheater (the goose can cheat, but not the gander). Thanks for writing.

It's hot. Held my breath. Fiction takes you places you imagine; this one did. I could feel the heat in Hawaii, the stirrings of ovulation that drive you crazy (but which, in real life, are kept in moral check), the accidental drinking, the surreptitious feel. aah. the fantasies of letting go. and which among us, who are successfully married, has not thought of a "what if"? (the wondering about that old flame...and especially if he/she comes back looking all buff and forlorn...just about rom-com there!). I hope you do a sequel.. might be interesting to write it again from Ben's point of view. I actually thought that maybe Ben and Chad were going to get it on under the waterfall, thus explaining Ben's reluctance to check out his family-making capabilities. As a story, though, I am left with a feeling of dread about the little blond boy who may emerge...seems hard to keep going. might have boxed yourself in. (signed, stillprudish) p.s. made me just about giggle the part about 2nd helpings - that was almost too much but the ending would have been too sombre without something there.

NicoleSix, don't listen to anyone commenting that the main character is a lying bitch or whatever. Some people are too stupid to understand that we are all writing fantasy! Stories are just writings from the mind that show the inner workings of a person's psychy. This author/main protagonist believes deep down infidelity somehow is ok if you lie about it. People like that will always say it is only fantasy and erotica but in reality it is more then that. In actuality they believe so much that it is okay they get off on it and it in turns becomes a norm thus cheating turns acceptable. And larancatour or whatever this story wasn't even remotely erotic is was just another slut/whore story just a spank story for wimps, people who have no morals or believe in love and fidelity.

Typical

story written by a female. Sorta like the movie Bridges of Madison County with Clint Eastwood. A shit of a woman who wants a hubby to support her for years and be true to her and give her respectability. While she acts like a total slut. Maybe both her and the bastard she is carrying will die in childbirth. It will be easier on the hubby than to find out 15 or 20 years later that he paid for the raising of the wife's bastard.

Holy cow, what a bunch of hateful readers here.

Is that why LW readers frequent these pages; to find excuses to hate women more?

The setup that I object to is the refusal of the husband to discuss fertility issues. Not enough was made of that for my taste. This all should have been worked out before marriage.

And, yes, it would often be preferable for a spouse to keep infidelity to themselves, rather than dump their guilt on the other party. A loving relationship can be rebuilt by the straying spouse, and best by not having to deal with the cheating.

Two wrongs don't make a right. What he did was the worst possible thing you can do to a woman who is your wife and wants children - pull the macho bullshit and pretend that you aren't the problem, and that therefore it can be solved with a little luck and your dick. He was infertile, end of story, which meant his wife was going to be forever denied children, despite who badly he knew she wanted them and he apparently didn't care enough about her for it to matter to him.

That said, she fucked him bad, and possibly even worse. If their kid ever has health issues, her hubby is gonna get hit by the triple whammy of finding out his wife is a whore, losing his paternity, and possibly losing his kid to death.

They're probably even, but again, two wrongs don't make a right.

The one I feel really bad for is the kid. All three of his parents are nasty cunts.

norcal62norcal62over 11 years ago
Absolutely agree that macho bullshit played a big part of this story.

That doesn't excuse wifey and her deception. Agree that all 3 share equal "fault" if what we're judging is "sin."

Another example of lack of intimate communication damaging a marriage bond.

cantbuymycantbuymyover 11 years ago
what the fuck are you talking about?

if you dont like your partner you get a fucking divorce you dont screw an ex-boyfriend on the god damn beach and get knocked up and pass it on as your husbands. low life cunt does that - and husband is not one bit at fault for her being a cheating slut.

Tell it like it is.

The story is full of people who are dysfunctional and not honorable to themselves or the people that mean the most to them. Ben is not a mature man and he should've been more respectful to his wife and gone to the doctor for his problem. His wife is a skank and a pig. Chad is the not so innocent party knowing that he was engaging with a married woman in unprotected sex. The characters are all low life's and pretty much got what they deserved.

"Without a baby, Ben and I were doomed as a couple. We seemed solidly together now, but an unsolvable crisis loomed in our near future."

The crisis looming was her adultery. Because of what she did, they are doomed as a couple. Not sure why she would supposedly do this for Ben, when she clearly still has a thing for her old boyfriend. She fantasizes about him while having sex with her husband, she screws him, and is now having his baby. And this is going to bring her closer to her husband? Why is she still with Ben? You have not written one single reason for her to stay with her husband. And ultimately, she won't. Conceiving Chad's baby is the fullest measure of coupling. She now has a closer relationship with him than her husband. Since she already had contemplated divorce, what reason does she now have to stay.

Wow...

The cheating wife in this tale is even worse than some I've read about on here. The sheer disrespect she showed to the man she supposedly loves is bullshit. Wifey claims that Hubby can't get her pregnant, but instead of trying different fertility options, or even trying adoption, she goes and gets knocked up by her Asshole ex-boyfriend. In one sentence, she says she loves Hubby, but in the next sentence, she uses that line to justify her cheating with Asshole. It was one of the most selfish choices I've ever seen, and I hope FTDS brings some sense of justice to this. This tale reminds me a bit of "Baby on the Brain", which FTDS finished out properly.

2 Stars. Well written, but the main character was just another cheater who found an excuse. Nothing to like about her at all.

Now as for the whining spelunkers who have earned their failing grades in the Remedial English Classes at the George Bush Middle School for Simpletons, they are attending. Stop picking your noses and pay attention.

The fictional husband of this fictional story is unable to father children and unwilling to man up and confront a biological problem. Sounds like he is in training to become a member of the BTB lynchmob perhaps even a professional anonymousie troll.

These life failures , as always, automatically blame the female. The only thing they haven't accused her of is witchcraft. Though these faggots are gathering the faggots to burn her at the stake.

Heck, I woulda thought you scum suckers would appreciate that the fictional wife, in a fictional act of procreation, chose the virile and heroic Alpha male to give the fictional husband the best possible fictional son to raise and take fictional credit for.

Considering the general age span of the commentators, I doubt if any of you have had the source of your DNA confirmed. How many of you are able to absolutely prove name filled in "Father's Name" line on your Official Birth Certificate?

After all you perpetual little boys are the ones who insist that all females are evil whoring cunts. Who am I to argue with your assessment of your own mothers and grandmothers? And the rest of the females of your benighted lineage.

The modern sciences

@fanfare It may be secret DNA test laboratory advertising story. The results of modern sciences is the DNA test to show 99.9% likely who is the father. It may be in the XIX and previous centuries a wife looked for a similar stranger as the husband was if the husband had not enough sperm cells. But the modern solutions are sperm bank and adoptation. I think the secret baby production by extramarital love in the DNA test laboratory world is a high risk for the kids nowdays to live in broken or disturbed family. I think the part of the freedom that a father is able to know his kids were sired by him and the sciences brought this freedom possibilities.

Do you imagine such world, where the DNA test will be forbidden for the husbands?

I imagine such World, where the part of the High School training for the students to show the possibilities of the DNA test and the secret sampling (for example hair and other samples). I think such (fantasy) stories as this, where the the wife had babies from extramarital love are not direct DNA test laboratory advertising. Mainly we commentators to explain to the younger readers the possibilities of DNA test laboratory usage. BTB stories are direct DNA test laboratory advertising stories, if the husband uses DNA test in the fantasy story.

I would hate to be this guy

I would hate to be the kind of guy who is so insecure he refuses to look at alternatives for having children. He refused to even receive or acknowledge the results of his sperm test.

With blind faith, he's relying on some garden faerie to bring her a baby. Doesn't work that way. Through his stubbornness and lack of love for his wife he leaves her vulnerable. Sure she did it, but do you think she would have if they were pursuing AI or adoption? I don't. After one night, a taste of what could be with the love of her life, she chooses to stay with the man she is married to. In a marriage that would be otherwise doomed.

But Ben wasn't a complete idiot.

He knew his wife well enough to recognize the "just fucked" look on her face and when he plunged into her he knew he was getting sloppy seconds. So he started to plan. He hid money, sold things for cash and over the next months managed to get rid of most of their assets. When the baby was delivered he asked for a DNA test. When the test showed him he wasn't the Father, he filed for divorce. She got practically nothing in the ensuing trail. Stupid bitch.

He couldn't quite bring himself to admit he was infertile but he had engineered the liaison with his wife's previous paramour. He knew her well enough to know there was more going on than she had admitted. He also knew that, without a baby, she would eventually leave him for someone who could give her that. By admitting nothing and acting oblivious he could give the love of his life what she truly wanted.

Ben knew from the afternoon spent with Chad that he wasn't the type to settle down now, as much as he and Susan felt for each other, they were incompatible in the long run. He wouldn't lose her to Chad.

It's complicated

In my opinion, this story did not live up to its title. I read your story twice., The second reading was to search for any character driven support for the actions of your protaginist. The only thing apperant in words and actions is that Susan's reunion with Chad caused her to rekindle her old feelings for him. She worked him into her sex with Ben to the point where in her mind Chad went from watching her get fingered by Ben, to actively fucking her to a series of orgasams. At one point Susan actually felt guilty that her husband was the one fingering her and Chad had to watch. Later, she got herself off by fantasizing about Chad fucking her. Finally she went to Chad's condo admittedly to for him to take her completely and utterly for him to make her his women and give her a baby. There is nothing complicated about Suzan's cheating. The baby thing was between her and her husband. To me, Susan was a cheating bitch with very little conscience. Her desire to have the baby look like Chad said everything I needed to know about Susan. I have an intense dislike for cheating bitchest, hence the same goes for your story. That being said, the story flowed well and the sex was reasonably stimulating, so I think I may give you another shot. I know that they are only stories but I get invested in my reads, and it's very difficult for me to disassociate myself from it's content. I could be wrong, but I don't really think you would want me to.

Ben was in deniel he has not right to bitch....

Lets face some realities. Ben refused to face facts. He gave up ANY rights at that point. Even Biblical scholars call this denial ABANDONMENT. What she did was not even specifically cheating, it was allowed because of infertility for centuries and that is historic and biblical fact. Deal with it. Those who beat their chests about doing something to Chad. First, Ben was not dealing with reality. Fine, Chad would have kicked his ass all day long. Further, no one would have blamed her even Ben's parents! Believe me, seen it. I watched a set of parents dump their infertile son because he would not accept the child his desperate wife conceived outside the marriage bed. Not exactly the same situation but rather close, they could not afford the expensive way so the boys MOM helped set up the date. When sonny found out due to routine blood work, he blew his top, DAD told him to grow up or get lost (Dad owned the business son worked at) son packed up and moved out. Refuses to pay support, lives on the street rather than pay it even with multiple court orders. His, parents have dis-inherited him. Child who is not even their blood will inherit everything he would have gotten. Basically told him to come back and be the dad or get lost and don't come back. He took the latter. Grandparents all get along, his ex remarried and they have two more. By the way, the court orders are still in effect, the minute he gets a job, they will take it for back child support - yes the laws in our state say if you claim the kid it is yours even if it later turns out not to be yours.

Here is the reality, sometimes life sucks. Grow up. Deal with it. Or blow your brains out and leave the world for your BETTERS.

To much Freedom

one and a half pages of describing different settings was a bit to much for me. I did love the story and started to get into it real good. The drawback of having someone else´s baby happened to me. My late wife had numerous affairs with my permission, sad thing was she still had that thing that drove her to cheat and hide affairs from me. it was during one of those times that she got pregnant had a baby boy. At ten years old he got sick he was given a medication that killed his kidneys. Of course I volunteered one of mine he´s my son what father wouldn´t . Well they ran some tests to make sure I would be ok for the surgery. The truth came out then He wasn´t my son and I told them I didn´t care as we couldn´t just let him die. Well there was no match. By the time we found the real father it was to late. My wife died with that on her mind. twenty years later as she was dying she was still was apologizing and asking for forgiveness from me and from god cause if only she had been honest that boy might still be alive today. I had forgiven her almost from the day I found out. Going through her stuff about a year after her passing I found that wasn´t the only time she cheated and lied to me. So now I can´t forgive her for those lies So now I´m doomed hating her and having no one to discuss it with.

Not complicated.

She saw Chad, she fucked Chad. Very simple. The infertility business is a convenient excuse. If her motive had been to get pregnant behind Ben's back, she could have done it artificially, and not cheated. She wants Chad, can't have him full time, so his baby will have to do. Ben has always been second best for her; once Chad Jr. is born, he'll be 3rd.

Further thoughts:

If narrator were an honest woman, or (heaven forbid) loved her husband at all, she would have confessed to Ben when she got home, and offered him the choice of being her husband but always second in her heart to Chad, and helping her raise Chad's son, or an evenly-split divorce. Instead, there's no love, no truth. I hope she's at least good looking.
