You really made me cry with this one. Their love felt so real. I hope that Mason can help Toni find solace first, so that eventually she may be able to accept love again.

this story was named 'James' and Mason would have died instead of him. I'm just too saddened by this though I knew it was coming. I can't say that I will finish this story out as I could really care less about Mason and Toni getting together. James and Toni's story was bittersweet all the way till the end and I loved every piece of it. They lived, they loved and had the family he'd always wanted before he passed, I couldn't ask for more than that. Thanks for the first 5 chaps of a beloved and heartbreaking love story.

I agree with the person who sad that it should have been Toni and James' story.

James was a very, very good person... the guy we all wish to meet and marry. At first, I thought Toni didn't deserve him if she couldn't love him the way he loved her or should be loved in return. I was glad when Toni came around. They made a wonderful couple and had a great life, with more ahead of them.

I'm sorry that James died. He will be missed.

And you, Miss Kal, have your work cut out for you in continuing this as Toni and Mason's story.

just damn damn double damn, actually sat here and cried when James died, this story has taken a life of its own , if you ask me. love it can't wait to see what happens next.

I know a lot of people liked James and sure he was a good guy but I think I saw him differently than everyone else. He got drunk and was going home with another woman, guilt led most of her actions and then she accepted it and fell in love. Since this story was about Mason I just assumed that James would die. I think James show her how to love in preparation of Mason without realizing it but then again these are just ramblings. I cant wait for more

James knew his time was up but still he kept on smiling ,living his life, settling things down for toni & his son knowing that he would go soon.What an irony !Very few people have the courage to do that.When you see somebody who knows that he/she is gonna die but still loves life and thinks that life is beautiful,something dies inside you.There's only one thing in your mind.. Why this person?What wrong did they do? But people eg James don't ask this. They smile and live each day with the same joy as if they are gonna live forever.

I lost my wife years back.Its not easy to see someone you love dying in front of your eyes.Kalamazoo I dont want to defy what you wrote, but on the death bed things are never peaceful.No one dies peacefully, smiling. There's soul tearing pain first then death.Dying people cry, scream badly, literally BEG you with their hands folded and teary eyes to save them coz they don't wanna die,they lose all sense of time and being, they are ready to do anything to escape death,sometimes running away from all those pipes and machines pumped into their bodies.For Doctors its just another dying patient who would add up to their death count for the day.And you just stand there,like a helpless idiot acting to be strong & cheerful in front of them, you who can't do anything to save them. You try to calm them down, lying that nothing would happen to them, they would live, things would be fine.You say this knowing very well that every word you are saying ia white lie. Still you do it, hiding tears from your eyes. You start hoping against hope that this can't be happening to you. But it does.

If anyone tells you that , you should slit your wrist and that blood can save the dying person, you become ready to do that also. You start beleiving anything and everything to escape the jaws of death.Something you would actually laugh at otherwise normally.But now you don't laugh coz you are desperate for a miracle.Alas Miracles don't happen !You are no longer what you used to be. You become only a shadow of your past.People sometimes don't even recognize you... Hey is it you? But you don't even mind what anyone else says coz only you know that its nothing compared to the pain you've endured. All your hope,strength,faith, confidence,cheerfulness flows out of the window.Everything else becomes meaningless to you.You start knocking on every door for some hope only to end up in dispair.You are ready to do anything just to make them live whatever happens to you. You don't care about yourself anymore.You don't see anything else apart from that.Everything comes to a halt. Curtains are drawn and you are just a mute spectator.

My wife used to love the famous book " Love Story" by Erich Segal.It still is kept on her book shelf. I remember these meaningful lines

What can you say about a 25-year-old girl who died?

From the onset I was not feeling Mason. The Toni and James parts were the only sections I read. Now that James is killed off, the story holds no interest for me. You are a very good writer and I wished you made the story about James and Toni only. I love happy endings and this one was supposed to be for these two, as a couple. Thanks for all your stories though, you are quite talented.

I knew it was coming and I expected it, but you can never brace yourself for it.

My father died in a very similar manner going on six years so reading this was just living all of that all over again. It's honestly the most painful thing ever and I don't know how my mother got through it and had to raise my siblings and I.

I won't be continuing on with this story, but I just wanted to say it was wonderful from what I've read.

I really wished James had lived though.

I know how anon is feeling with this story. It came very close to home. My father passed of conjunctive heart failure. No surgery he passed while in a drug induced coma. I dont know how my mother got through it. And I was old enough to understand what death meant and how it felt to not have the best man in my life around until my son. You wrote this well. There is something about seeing your feelings written, even when they werent your words and you can relate. You can feel the heart ache. And you can share the tears.

Memories are always hard to revisit. Even the good ones sometimes but I thank you for writing this. Even as I tear while writing this comment. I can say I will read more. Because if she can move on then I have hope for my mother that there is a chance for her to share that great love again.

I really don't understand why anon 'I will not' is not going to finish this very good story. Anon claimed to be surprised that the story was not going to continue to be about Toni and James, are you serious? The story is titled "Mason", and that along with the statement at the start that Toni and Mason are mates should have been enough of a hint who the love story was going to be about. I have no intention of missing out on this very good story because of one beautifully written sad chapter, so please bring us your next chapter soon!

All I can say is WOW... I was crying like the other reader and I knew it was coming but just didn't know when.

It was truly hard to read of James' death. I was crying.

The love story that grew from the relationship between Toni and James gives me great hope and anticipation for this couple's (Toni/Manson)future love. After reading this story's previous chapters and "Ethan", I now know how truly deep and thoroughly committed that Toni and Manson will be to each other. As their story unravels, our author will continue to weave a story that will capture our interest, emotions, and determination to stay with her until its ending.

talk about a "tear-jerker" chapter. Great writing! You made us fall for James and then you took him away. He was such a sweet guy - a great husband to Toni and father to Jamie. I know in the end it had to be this way, because it works for Mason's story, but Death so sucks!!

Its like you know something is gonna happen eventually and dreading it and when it finally happens you're still not prepared for it wow very sad just hope that somehow Mason can help Toni and little Jamie get through all of this grief and perhaps move on again its a very hard thing to loose your spouse looking forward to seeing what happens next!!

oh gosh i actually cried when i was reading this, with each chapter i grew to really like james. him and toni were the perfect happy ever after couple, they had the perfect life and then the prefect baby then he died in such a tragic way :*(. your writing is just amazing btw

I knew from the beginning that this is what it would come to; but I'm still sitting here saying "Damn, damn, damn!" like Florida Evans! I'm so sad cuz I really liked James and I really don't like that Mason keeps ending up as Captain Saveahoe! But the story rocks and the psycho psychiatrist was just hilarious!

You made us love James. At the beginning, it was thought that he was weak, and unworthy...but his character showed what unconditional love looked like and he was rewarded with his greatest wish... a child.

I have been on this site for years and have never commented....I fought so hard to not cry and that is just a testament to how you draw people into your stories and make the characters feel so real....so real that you feel their emotions, so real that when their heart hurt your readers heart fell that same pull.. Wow

It is 4:47am and I am still awake reading. You have been blessed with such a gift as this. I love all of the characters and what each brings to the table.

You can't help but love James he waited for her and was so loving I wish it could have been different my feelings are really hurt I don't know if I can go from liking Jane to mason .
