I get it. Life's relationships in this vein can end this way. In a very cursory way, the narrator told us he segued way into another relationship after Mrs. Bethany brought things to a close . Detailing the new liàson would have closed this on a higher note . Mrs. B. was largely a cipher in terms of her innermost feelings.

What was here was exquisite. If the author wanted to do a quick, sensative but heated, two ships passing in the night story, it works. I would have loved a bit more though.

One puzzle....why did Mrs. B stop the visits? Was the reason important?
