I think there's room to explore these characters more and either bring in some more textured emotional shadings or go the opposite direction and escalate the over-the-top parts to even more epic shenanigans. But I also think the story stands perfectly well on its own as a light-hearted wild flight of fancy. It simultaneously leaves us with a sense of completion and also a suggestion of potential.

As a trans woman myself, if I had one piece of advice to give, it would be to suggest that these days "transsexual" is considered an outdated and often offensive term. Whilst some trans people do keep using the term, they're almost always older trans people over the age of 45, which is of course older than I imagine you envisaged Lydia. The younger trans folk like myself use either "transgender", or simply "trans": the word "transgendered" is not actually a word used, because "transgender" is an adjective only, not a verb or a noun.
