I believe stories about the love between a mother and son, especially that has them commit to each other in a relationship such as a quasi marriage or quasi husband wife, are really about the kind of deep love that is very very hard to find elsewhere. Love with each other that simply others cannot understand or provide. This was a good story and it would be lovely to read more about and how they explored and progressed their new found relationship. As others have suggested, such as Morlan, it should lead to the mother truly accepting him as her lover and partner by bearing a child for him. A child as a fruit of their love joining them together forever. Ideally this would be amazing in the context of their own marriage, where she accepts him as her husband out of choice (not arranged marriage as per with the dad) because she truly loves him in a way much deeper than with dad, and him accept her as his wife to show though he has plenty of choice being a younger male (i.e. more single girls around at his age than single guys at hers) he chooses her. The marriage can even be just a religious ceremony for them (not official), but as long as they both accept it, it is just as real. Would love to then read about their relationship and especially them trying for their first child and how they would make it happen and deal with the rest of family and society e.g. if they pretend it's the dads, not sons, baby, or find the will and courage to live as man and wife maybe somewhere else and then plan the pregnancy. The essence of incestual love is not complete without kids. x x
