Nothing like a happy ending. Thanks for sharing such a sweet story Smokey :). You had me in tears in the middle part. I'm glad it was only a dream!
I wasn't really sure where this story was going and then you hit us with that great double whammy in the middle. A five-star enjoyable tale!
So are they both alive or did she die by the car hit? And now the angels have them in a purgatory type place where they can both be together, amazing story but I'm so confused. Please help.
Thanks for your feedback. Glad you seemed to like the story (aside from it confusing you). I've normally not been replying to comments, but instead reaching out to try and contact Readers directly. But seeing as that's a less than ideal system, and your comment contained a question, I'll answer it here.
Everything from the scene in which Sonya stubs her toes on Trish's shoes, leading to their fight and Sonya's departure, UP to Ghost-Sonya saying goodbye to NON-Ghost-Trish...that all happened only in Trish's dream. Only in the dream, only Sonya died, from being hit by the car. She then, as the clock struck midnight, came back as an angel/ghost, visited Trish and told her everything would be okay, and they had their talk. As it seemed so real to her, when Trish woke up and realized it was just a dream after all, and Sonya wasn't really dead, and she came back and laid down with her, that was the very last scene. So I hope that clears things up for you to some extent. Anything else you'd like to know, feel free to comment, or feedback me directly. Cheers! —SS
I liked the story. I thought you were going to put a different twist on the end though. I was half expecting Sonja to wake up alone at the end and find that she had dreampt the whole angel encounter. That she had left after the fight and something had happened and it was Trish who had died. Nice "Twilight Zone" phrasing to the last paragraph.
This had me in tears with the dream sequence then feeling all warm and fluffy with realisation that all was good in the world of Sonya and Trish in the end .
Clever writing , with a nice twist . Also had me singing along to all the 80's classics .
Thank you
