It is wonderful to see this story continued. I really like the relationship between Carwen and Berta, and the fact Carwen is now a female deacon. And whilst the lovemaking scene was amazing, this exchange was my absolute favorite part of the chapter:
"You are a strange creature, my daughter, but loved. As long as Berta and the sisterhood make you happy, I am content."
"Thank you father. I consider Berta and I as one flesh, as you and my mother are."
He smiled tenderly at me.
"I can see she makes you happy, and what more could any father want for his little girl?"
He was right. I would that others could come to such simple wisdom.
Amen, Carwen. Amen. :)
I very much admire the way you are able to slip easily between the differing genres, Pixie. I did have to go back and reread this entire story to recall what had happened previously but it was worth the effort. But please, not so long between chapters next time.
Point of interest: Have you heard of a writer called Henry Treece (he's been dead almost 60 years)? I mention him because he wrote a number of historical novels similar to this, very often well-known stories but in more realistic settings. For example, one novel, "The Great Captains" was the story of King Arthur but as a Romano-British chieftain rather than a Hollywood-type knight in full armour. Another (called, I think, "The Green Man") was the story of Hamlet but as a Viking sub-chieftain seeking vengeance on a treacherous relative.
thank you so much, OneAuthor, and I am glad you enjoyed the scene between carwen and her father xxx
Yes, Maonaigh, I read Treece as a little girl - we inherited my grandfather's library! I am sorry I left it so long, but now I am back to it, it will proceed apace xx
Dear Pixie,
It feels as if you transposed the story of your personal spiritual path into these ancient times.
I love how mythological creatures like Merlin blend in. It is certainly no coincidence that your brother is Artos, or Arthur. But where the Arthur from Camelot has Morgana as a half sister who is, perhaps unjustly, depicted as an evil witch and Merlin's rival, this Arthur has a sister who saves both her own people and the Saxon people. Carwen helps creating a sisterhood where the old and the new religion live in a symbiotic relationship, just like Berta and Carwen.
To me the most beautiful part of the story is the moment when both women realize that they can only feel as one when they have given an orgasm to their lover rather than having received one.
This could be a perfect ending, but peace is not easily won. It must be fought for. And so the saga continues.
I don't necessarily feel that things never change, as commenters to previous episodes have remarked. Things change, albeit slowly at times, and not always in the right direction. But we must always hope that they do, and Carwen, guided by Pixie, may find the right way.
Love
W
Now I have been able to read your comment, I want to thank you for it and your deep and sympathetic understanding of my writing xxx
I love it when Carwen and Berta get together and it fits the beautifully written storyline so well. xx
