As to story, I'm pretty happy with your pacing so far. You write the sexy bits well.

Also, just for my own perverse preferences, I rather hope the poison leaves at least some permanent trace in Simon's system.

No matter how you write it this is an exceptional story with Simon and Leyna relationship ramping up in the next chapter. She's Like magical slutty girlfriend with a heart of gold. In my opinion you could finish the story in the couple of chapters or you call this arc 1 in the series leaving room in for a second part of the series if want to come back to it. Fun as always, Cheers!

I definitely have no plans to abandon Simon and Leyna! I generally don't let go of a story before it's done unless I get completely blocked, and at this point, I have an outline that I don't see any likely block points in.

Hadn't really considered leaving some of Eesia's venom in Simon's system. Hmmm! I'll have to mull that one over!

Part of me wants to guess that Simon has already met Necromanata's daughter and seen the Soul Focus, but he did not recognize her or it for who and what they were. Then several elaborate tasks and trips will eventually cause him to realize they were all unnecessary as the answer was in front of him all the time.

Another part of me wants the puzzle to be at least six remote connections deep, typical of Simon's plot complications.

My lips are sealed about Necromanata's daughter! I will say that because I'm posting this chapter-by-chapter as it's written, plot points sometimes come to me on the fly. In the final draft, I'll move Simon's recollection of his abandoned sequel outline much earlier in the story, before he's met too many of his female encounters from chapters 1-7. It could really be any of them except Juliette Ravendark herself ... wait, in fact, it could even be her, after some sorcerous event reawakens long-suppressed memories from her early childhood! Actually, now that you've got me thinking more about it, I may have to change my idea ...

Well, to clarify, I've read of many voraciously slatternly characters who had hearts of gold. Many of them had no more than that one line to define them, half again have little more than a few anecdotes.

Leyna has been brought to rare life within the few passages allowed her over a mere eight chapters.

Her bj wasn't so much remarkable for its skill - though she exhibited that to a rare degree - but rather for the motivation of her method. You've created a woman who is a sexual dynamo, a cumslut even, but one who so intensely wants to please and care for Simon that she figured out a way to relieve him (and her own appetites) without hurting him. This is why I read fiction - of any type, but I do admit a bit of a leaning towards Lit - for the rare opportunities to find a Leyna.
