Six months later we had a celebration of sorts. We were together and happy again. That's not to say there weren't problems, some huge ones at the times but this time we talked about them and solved them. Do we have a storybook marriage? No, they don't exist. We have what every other happy couple has, a marriage that takes work in order to survive. And, fifteen years later, we're still working on it, but we're still happy.

A marriage is between two people, not three. Add in a wedding with a spoiled little girl and you have disaster on a stick! Thanks Slirpuff, second or third pass through.

Reconciliation is definitely OK if neither of them had any (sexual) relationships during the separation. Not a bad story.

So many bitter incels here who aren't satisfied until there's blood. It tickles me to see so many angry men doing their best "old man yelling at clouds" routine and projecting their horrible track record with women onto these stories.

Not sure why everyone is in such a pissy mood that they reconciled. Yes there were problems. Their communication sucked and Faith was a real bitch, while Lisa catered to Faith's whims and spoiled her rotten. But the fact that that Keith would walk her down the aisle, while a gut punch and worthy of a major row, is not somehow irreconcilable, nor worth almost two years apart. Yes Lisa needed to wise up and it took a lot of counseling, but can also see from her perspective that he dropped the mic and exited stage left, not even planning to say goodbye. The crap with the rehearsal dinner should have led to a major argument. Instead, for him the last straw was broken and he went immediately into btb mode with regards to the wedding. Sorry that was a dick move. We'll written and emotionaly taut, but seriously they both screwed up. She forgot what it meant to be married, and the MC overreacted, complaining about Saint Greg, but except for Faith, when did Lisa even really bring Greg up? While the title implies living in Greg's shadows, it is only really because of her daughters, especially Faith, and to a lesser extent Debra. Lisa acted out by spoiling her daughters and making excuses for Faith the Terrible , but really didn't inject Greg into the conversation, from at least what was on page. Neither cheated and kept their vows while miserable for nearly two years. He abandoned her while she tried to improve herself both physically and emotionally. The latter took a while. Yet they still spent almost two years apart. Gah! Their marriage was flawed and built in with some serious challenges for which they sucked at communication, but their marriage was hardly irreconcilable. 5 stars.

@anon below - No they don't. Children spend a remarkably low amount of their life in actual quality contact with their parents. They spend more time at school, or with their friends or even watching tv/social media.

Modern life has made this disconnect that much more vivid. If both parents work the contact time is even less.

As it happens, if you ever meet people who were home schooled from a young age, the first thing you notice is how strange and abnormal they are, and generally not in a good way.
