By focusing on the characters needs, making a financial plot point (some would say McGuffin) You have constructed real meaning in the relationship between two human beings. Real needs. Real meaning. Real short. Perhaps you are like Oppenheiner when he detonated the A bomb, a little too scared of what you have created. Have the courage to tell the world the truths these two people discover in their journey with each other, and try to do as good a job as you have done so far. That's all a writer can do. Write more, lots more. You are good.
