What an incredibly beautiful story. I’ve loved all your other stories (and can’t wait for those to continue), but this was a charming and wonderful diversion. Your characters are beautifully conceived and seem to me to be living, breathing people. You always draw me in and make me feel like they’re just a phone call or text away.

As an incurable romantic I thank you for making me feel for these people and giving me hope. The sex is great, but to be honest, I read your stories for the romance pure and simple. I love your stories and as long as you care to write them, I’ll be here to read them. Thank you for all your work, effort and, yes … love!

I woke at 7am and saw a new story by u. It did not disappoint. It was nice take on beauty and the beast. Wish the mom didn’t die since she wanted no part of kei. I like these two characters, want more of them.

Excellent story, Carey, you had me gripped from the off. A good mixture of East meets West fantasy and an interesting retelling of an old tale. Let's hope that your muse stays with you and we won't have to wait too long for more from you. Five stars and it should be more.

Wow, Beauty and the beast is one of my favourites when it comes to 'princess fairytales', so I was a bit sceptical how I would find your interpretation and your remake of it, but you surpassed and surprised me fur sure. I really like the character of Tina, the wise woman, who encouraged her daughter to sign the contract in the beginning and also the explanation why flowers and greeneries were growing and coming out of nowhere. You have thought about everything. Well done and thank you for this story.

I have to be honest and admit that I'm very disappointed that your story took second place. Even though you're putting a spin on a classic fairy tale, you still didn't create anything ORIGINAL. This wasn't specifically plagiarism, but it certainly was its first cousin. I felt like it should have been placed in the 'honorable mention' category instead.

Loved the story and your other stories. Admittedly I am not too much into the sex but the story budding and the romance are what I am in for.

I particularly loved the reference to Dr Van Essen. I imagine its in the story because of your interest in mid-century neuroscience but for me it was pointing to Dr Van Essen from 'Insu-pu' by Mira Lobe....

This was a beautiful blend of a lot of different things. Chinese mysticism, a detective story, girl sex, and a colorful ending. Your Beauty and the Beast inspiration was clever. The two dichotomies play off each other very well, and you even threw a few dream sequences. Tina was an inspiration, always the proponent of Chinese mysticism always pointing out the “way”. All in all a great, entertaining story. Thanks for writing, and maybe we get to see more stories not from Alex/Jess. Take care

Six months ago, I said welcome back here (below). And that I'd comment on the content after I'd read it.

I didn't; I don't remember why not.

But on second reading, I will comment.

I thought it a fun, silly, fairy tale that maintained that light atmosphere through the last sentence. That's a good thing, by the way. There kinds of stories are fun to read and you feel good at the end when it's time to go the sleep (I always read Lit late at night in the pitch dark; adds to the suspension of disbelief).

Please don't make us wait another 3 years for the next one!
