Hot, sweet, and not Ken-and-Barbie pretty.

I see no reason to make Diane so physically unattractive. You could have left it at "being blind".

The stopping point was hideously abrupt, especially for a posting which gave no hint that there would be a "to be continued" element.

Other than those two points, it is truly a sweet story.

This is a great beginning for a romantic story arc, please continue.

One minor point though... As said by an other commenter, it wasn't necessary to make Diane "ugly" - although that is in the eye of the beholder. Giving her blindness would have been disability enough. But overall I do like the plot.

It would be a nice touch for mom to offer herself as thanks for his sacrifices of giving her a grandchild.

You could let mom come home and her girl tell her the details making mom so hot that she want. Some.

I didn't mind much that the girl was ugly. It was something different than the usual barbie meets rambo.
