Pick ONE TENSE, and stick to it. The constant changing from pstto present, then back again is VERY irritating. I could not finish the tale.

I agree with the commenter that urged you to pick a tense…it’s distracting and difficult to read. Also, pick a perspective…are you narrating or telling the story? This has a lot of potential, but really needs an editor who knows what they’re doing.
