Click hereAlly had been surprised at first by how much weight Nathanael held amongst the men of the other tables. Even more so than her husband, Oscar, who was destined to be the chair. She'd been forced to see Nathanael through a new lens she hadn't been aware of before coming to Melbourne, and she wondered if she truly knew him at all now, or even if Oscar knew him that well. It had been her suggestion to stay, and she had hoped Connie, Darla, and their families could stay as well. Seeing the men interact together was more than eye-opening for her, and she truly enjoyed the company of the small group that seemed to be closer than the others.
The small group also included the Papillo family, who had already left early this morning because of pressing business at home, and the Donati family, who could not stay. Both of those families had already made a move to the new table instead of naming their successors without relinquishing power, as yet. She had no doubt that Cat would be the new mother of the Vitali, and she would like for them to become good friends. These were strange days they were living in, and each of the families had found themselves under threat in recent years. The mystery was, however, that quite often there seemed to be more questions raised and dead ends in investigations than there were answers as to who was behind the attacks.
Ally was not the meek and mild little wife who was happy to just let the men do their jobs and protect the family, she took her role seriously, and if people came after her family, she would move heaven and earth to protect them. She knew Connie, Darla, and Peri felt the same way, and she imagined Cat would be like-minded. From what she'd heard, the woman was much tougher than she seemed. Catriona Vitali intrigued her on more than one level. She knew about her past. In fact, the Vitalis' had been quite open about the fact. It didn't matter to Ally, some of her best friends growing up had been street kids, and she looked forward to many more opportunities like this weekend to get to know Cat better.

I realized something else I enjoy about your writing. The chapters start quickly to really pull the reader in. There is plenty of action, information and description to keep the reader involved and learning about the characters and the various challenges they are facing. You manage to wrap-up the chapter leaving the reader with a sense that a part of one story thread is complete, while leaving enough loose ends to keep the reader craving move. Very well done!
I notice you post almost one chapter in 8 - 10 days. I also know it could be the Easter holidays causing the delay, but please give us the next chapter soon!
This is a really good story. Can't wait for the next chapter.
P. S. I would definitely buy it if it were a novel (or part of a series with Twelve Tables)
That is the first word that popped into my head when I read about Mario. If he put Vanessa in danger that is all the brothers will leave of him, a pile of slime. Another great chapter, thanks for sharing.
