"Sure Doc, we will go hide somewhere."

Gray pulled Delicious into his arms and asked her if she loved the apartment.

"I love the apartment Gray, the views are magnificent, the bedrooms are huge, and the kitchen is wonderful. I am going to love shopping for all the furniture with Rosalynn."

"Do you love the color of my new car?"

"Yes I do."

"Delicious, do you love me?"

"What are you up to Gray?"

"Please answer the question. Delicious, do you love me?"

"If there is a catch to this, I will kill you."

"If I have to ask you one more time, I will leave this building, and not ask you again. Do you love me Delicious?"

"I love you more than science, more than the flowers in the springtime, more than my own life. I do not know if I could live without you. When I saw you walking away from me my heart was walking away with you."

"Was that a yes?"

"You deserve to die slowly. If there is a trick to this, I am going to kill you with a paring knife. Yes that was a yes."

Gray reached into his pocket, pulled out the ring box, opened it and got down on a knee.

Her eyes opened wide and her brain froze on the words, "Oh God."

"Delicious, you are going to be the death of me. You are going to drive me insane with jealousy, and you are going to drive me insane with the way you act. You are going to complicate my life until the day we leave this planet together. My life can never be complete without you at my side. I knew it from the moment I first saw you. I knew at that moment you and I were destined to be joined forever. Would you make my wish come true.

Miss Delicious Luck will you marry me?"

Tears came out of her eyes, like raindrops came out of a thunderstorm. She never thought this would happen to her, because of the way her mother taught her to fend off both men and boys. Yet here she was, standing in a fantasy apartment, with a fantasy boyfriend kneeling in front of her asking her to marry him, and all she could do was cry. She had to answer him before his knees gave out, but for the first time in her life, her mouth would not work. She was sobbing and crying uncontrollably. She nodded her head until the power of speech returned for a one-word reply:

"YES!"

She didn't remember Gray taking her left hand and sliding the ring onto her ring finger. It was a perfect fit, but she didn't see it because her tears were so large she was blind. He had never seen her like this. He laughed as he carried her into the kitchen, sat her down on a countertop, and stroked her hair. He kissed her held her close, until she finally began to calm down. He took his handkerchief and dabbed her tears away.

He asked, "Do you like it?"

"Liked what?"

"Your ring?"

"I do not know, where is it?"

"It is on your ring finger."

"Oh Gray it is gorgeous. You must have spent a fortune on this."

"It would have cost me a fortune, but the jeweler gave me a big discount because of what happened with Jayden. It saved me $40,000."

"If it saved you $40,000, I do not want to know what the ring cost."

"Do not worry dear, it is insured. If you lose it I will kill you, and I mean it."

"Does my dad know about this?"

"Does he know about today: No.

Did we discuss us getting engaged and getting an engagement ring: Yes.

I did not want us to be apart. So I decided to get us an apartment by the university. Are there any other questions?"

"Just one; what else are you hiding from me Gray?"

"Oh fuck!"

Wow!

Just stepped into really fucked up territory. Boyfriends a spouse beater because his girlfriend isn't doing what he wants & plans to leave. Then warns her she's 'lucky' he pulled his punches a little. Daddy's fine with that, but what could you expect from a sociopath that constantly lies, berates and abuses his daughter when she dishes back some of the abuse she's taking from him.

Even & Grayson should both be in jail for child abuse & assault and battery. Disgusting chapter.

Terrific story

I absolutely love your series "There Must Be A Mistake". But I will agree that the constant bickering and Delicious' hair trigger are becoming annoying. Also no man is ever entitled to hit a woman in anger. Never. Not for any reason. Ever.

*****

I have enjoyed this tale from the beginning (three days ago). Only three things annoying. Words used in the incorrect context. Small words misspelled and the crude language used by Delicious. Otherwise a good read. Cheers!

Gray should not have slapped Delicious. No man should ever strike the woman they love. Even the spanking is too rough. She's just a confused young woman with more brains than experience and all that she is learning now is that the men in her life who claim to love her will hurt her if she doesn't behave in the way that they expect her to.
