Monty stood up and flexed her knee.

"If that's all you have, this match is going to be over very quickly."

Gordon didn't answer, and charged again, as Monty stalked forward. He faked going into a slide, and Monty went into a crouch in order to catch him. Gordon jumped off his left leg spun around, and wound up with both legs around Monty's head. He pulled back with his body forcing her knees forward and her body back. This time when she screamed, she was hurt. She was not a gymnast or a ballerina; her body was not meant to be in this position.

The audience was silent.

Gordon jumped off immediately and asked her if she was alright.

"You are going to be mopping the bridge for the rest of your life. Where the hell did you learn that thing?"

"It was a cartoon on television when I was a kid. I always wanted to try it. I saved it for you. Do you need Doctor Finch?"

"Help me stand up, and I'll let you know?"

"Stay here, I'll get a forklift."

"Now is not the time to joke with me Gordon, I may just kill you in your sleep."

Janet saw Gordon trying to help Monty up, and ran to help him.

"Should we call out the reserves?"

"I'm going to put you back in the rack Janet, and leave you there."

Gordon yelled, "Is Doctor Finch in the house?"

"Yes Gordon."

"We are going to need a gurney. Have your nurses set up for a CAT scan, and x-rays of both knees. Nothing should be broken, but we may have tendon damage to both of the Senior Captains knees."

"I knew I would hate that title from the moment Jennifer gave it to me."

As soon as she was vertical she said to the audience, "The pupil has overtaken the teacher. He deserves the rank of number one."

The applause started slowly but gathered momentum as Monty raised Gordon's hand. Zoey joined Gordon on the stage, kissed him, and hugged Monty.

"Thank you for making him who he is today."

"His parents had a lot to do with it too Zoey."

"I know, but you put the steel in his backbone."

"There were times I wished I hadn't."

"No you don't. You were as proud of him as I was that he stood up for us principles."

"Principles can kill you."

"You're talking to a girl who jumped off a 28 floor balcony, because she had enough of arguing with her mother. Shall we talk about principles?"

"Your chariot is here, let's get you down on it."

As Monty lied down, Janet asked out loud, "Doctor Finch, what is the weight limit on these things?"

Monty screamed, "I'm going to kill her. I really and truly am going to kill her."

Gordon said, "I'm sorry Monty you can't do that anymore."

"Why not?"

"She can appeal to the Senior Captain, and the Senior Captain has to go by the book. I feel bad for you."

"I can see your role choked up by it."

"Nobody told you to score 96 on that test. You almost tied me."

"I did? What did you score?"

"100, of course."

"Get out of my face before I smash yours in."

"Monty why do I have a feeling that on another plane of existence you were either my mother or my wife."

"The answer to that one is easy. Both of them could beat the shit out of you, and you would still come back for more."

Zoey said, "I like that one Monty. I never heard it before, but I like it." Then she smacked Gordon on the back of the head.

"Ow, what was that for?"

"I was just testing Monty's hypothesis. I want to see if it works."

"When I'm smacking your behind later, let me know if it's still working for you."

"Does that mean you're coming back?"

"You bet your ass it does."

"The Monty's hypothesis is true. You can beat the shit out of a man, and he will come back to you."

"Okay everyone, let's give Monty a little privacy, while we take a CAT scan and some x-rays. We will let you know what happens later. We will send you the bill Captain Gordon. Nice move by the way; I saw the same cartoon. I never expected to see it used in real life."

@Youkai_sama But there is an I-295. Missed it by that much!

Typos are easy to overlook.

(BTW this is an I-285 proposed for North Carolina)

I'm sorry, but I had to stop reading and jump down here to post this now. Interstate 285 runs a circle around Atlanta, GA. It is nowhere near the Capitol or Virginia. Now, I may have missed some other glaring irregularities because I don't live in any of those other places but that one smacked me right in the face. XD

An observation...

I'm enjoying your story quite a bit, however, there's one thing which keeps bugging me; the violent nature of all the characters. Given the fact that these are highly educated people, all of whom are beyond brilliant, one would expect them to understand the futility of physical violence. Instead, they're constantly hitting each other and threatening to kill over the most inconsequential things... It doesn't make sense.

Here is the answer to the question about the 'CARTOON.'

Many of you have asked me to reveal the name of the cartoon, where I remembered the move Gordon used to defeat Senior Captain Montgomarie (Monty) Jamison, in there scheduled match. This may be well before your time, but some of us old timers remember the Americanized Japanese cartoon named 'Speed Racer.' The 'Young (Man) BOY, was a superhero, without a cape, or the ability to fly. Believe it or not, he even bled occasionally. He used this move against villains, who were three or four times his size and body weight, normally breaking their legs in multiple positions. The villians bones were shown piercing their skin, FOR EFFECT. I watched this program every saturday morning, without fail, when I was not working. My five year old son sat on my lap, and would not let me move until the progam titles were over.(If you want to know what his race car looked like, I know that down to the decals that were on it. ESSO Gasoline was one of the funny ones. ESSO, translated into Japanese means, "Stalled Car.")
