"Go ahead Doctor Luck; I know he's going to enjoy this. We will hide in the front of the aircraft."

"Wake up you lazy bastard, you have work to do!"

Dycke was startled out of his dreamlike state by that voice. That voice that belonged to the body of a man he wanted to strangle to death, personally.

"Wake up you lazy bastard, you have work to do!"

There it was again, he opened his eyes, and there was no one around him. He spied the cell phone laying on top of his prison and screamed back. "Where are you, you ignominious bastard. You did this to me. I'm in the fucking airplane at 40,000 feet flying to Sweden, because of you. I've never been to Sweden. It's winter there, and I'm going to freeze my ass off."

"Dycke, I always thought you were smart man. Now I'm beginning to doubt it. Can you hear the engines on your airplane?"

"They are very quiet, were probably descending into the airport."

"You landed 20 minutes ago you idiot, and everyone has already gone through customs. They left me here in Texas to wake you up. They thought it would be safer for them to be away from you when that happened. I am your best friend, and probably your best customer. I am tired of you laying down on the job."

"Friends don't give friends heart attacks."

"You didn't have a heart attack, you had a panic attack, and it wasn't caused by me. This shit that's going on between you and Payne is killing you, and I will not allow that to happen.

I'm not being selfish about this Dycke. Everyone who is on that airplane with you has put their jobs on the line, just to help you. They are more than just your employees. They have been your friends for more than 20 years. They will not allow you die, because of stress between you and your wife. You are on vacation. You are going to talk to Doctor Bill Russell, until the aircraft departs for Charleston.

I laughed when Bob told me the name of this famous psychiatrist he was able to get to come along with you. I asked him if he knew what his specialty was, and Bob said, "He's a psychiatrist."

"Bob, he deals in sports medicine. Doesn't the name Bill Russell mean anything to you?"

"He's that Bill Russell?"

"He is William Russell, Doctor of Psychiatric Medicine, of the University of Massachusetts."

"I knew there was something wrong with him. He is a giant, and he didn't make any short jokes."

"What am I supposed to do with a basketball player Even?"

"He is a Doctor asshole, talk to him. Tell him what's going on inside your head. I know what's going on inside there, because I have the other half of it here. Gordon's getting ready to crack under the strain, and he wants to leave yesterday. He's finally started crying, which is the best thing in the world for him.

As for you, there are several options, and you can discuss these with Doctor Russell. 1... 2... 3...

"Now, if you'd like to get out of the hyperbaric chamber, reach your arms behind your head and you will feel to buttons. Press on them simultaneously and the door will pop open. Soon your bed will begin to slide back. Do not, I repeat do not try to stand up by yourself. You will have no power in your legs. Call for help, or you will be face down on the floor. I don't want you to fall Dycke, you are ugly enough as it is."

"And you are a raving beauty I suppose?"

"Compared to you Dycke, I am queen for a day."

"Fuck off Even. I just pushed the 2 buttons, and the hatch has just unsealed. When I get to that cell phone, I'm going to find out whose it is, and fire that person immediately."

"I didn't know you could fire your daughter."

"You are a real prick Even. How will I know it's hers?"

"Do you know Zoey's phone number?"

"You bet your ass I do."

"Call the number, and see if it rings?"

"When I'm strong enough to get to my phone, I'm going to call her. If that phone doesn't ring, my team is flying back tomorrow."

"I didn't realize you could get my vanadium that quickly."

"I don't care about your vanadium. I don't care about light moving faster than light. I don't care about you, you goddamned genius."

Seconds later, I could hear him screaming for help.

I screamed back. "Dycke, you dumb son of a bitch, why don't you ever listen to me?"

Fiona picked up the phone. "We have him Even. He's sitting down, and we haven't strapped into a seat. He is furious with us."

"Put the phone on the hyperbaric chamber, and give him his phone. Tell him to call Zoey. Have him pick out a person to answer the phone as it starts to ring."

Fiona walked over to him handed Dycke his cell phone. She smacked him across the face, and said, "I never thought I would see you return to a 17-year-old boy. Fuck you Dycke Schneider, I quit."

"You can't quit, you're under contract to me for 3 more years."

"You are going to wish you had just let me go. I am going to fuck up the Western portion of your corporation so badly, you will never recover."

"I'll sue you for every penny you have."

"Like you need my money. You don't know what to do with your money. You don't know how to handle your wife. You don't know what to do with your daughter. You are not the man I used to know. Here's your phone, call your daughter, when that phone rings, pick out someone to answer it so you know this is not a joke."

After dialing the phone and listening to the appropriate clicks, the phone laid there dead.

"I knew this was a trick. I knew Even was lying to me."

I yelled into the phone, "Would one of you idiots please hang up this phone?"

Dycke yelled, "If anyone was going to fuck up this test, it was going to be you, you cock sucking bastard."

"You never took the bet Dycke. It's still strapped to my knee. Any time you want to take the bet just let me know, and tell me what you are willing to give up."

"Oh shit, I've got it Even. I'm willing to give up Zoey. You said the bet only included Payne. I'm not giving up Payne; I'm giving up my daughter. You better not be lying to me or I swear to God I will cut what you have off."

"I swear before God, and my wife and children, I have just won this bet."

"Get off this fucking phone, I have work to do."

"You are on vacation. Let your team do your work for you."

"Fuck them, I feel like I could lift this airplane by myself. You will have your Vanadium within a week. Be prepared to show me what you have, I'm going to take a picture of it, and show it to Payne as proof of my lost bet."

"Are you sure you don't want Jennifer and me to prove to her that it works in real life?"

"The church frowns on pornographic movies Even."

"This would not be a pornographic movie. This would be instructional."

"Is this the reason why you told me you were going to be in trouble shortly?"

"Do you ever forget anything that's said to you?"

"I have a photographic memory, with total recall. I can't forget anything, even if I want to forget it."

"I have to special order condoms, because of my size. The last packet of 20 were defective. I didn't realize it, until I had used 7 of them. Jennifer and I are a little rowdy in bed. When I explained to her what happened, she was just a little upset with me."

"How upset is a little upset, when it comes to Jennifer?"

"She said she was going out and buy two separate pregnancy test kits. When I got home that evening, if there was a gun on the table, instead of dinner, I had better turn around and run for my life. That evening when I got home, there were 2 test kits on the table, and dinner. I breathe a sigh of relief."

"Even, you are the luckiest son of a bitch on planet Earth."

"I won't even disagree with you Dycke. If I look at all the blessings I received, before I found a religion I could be comfortable being a part of, I marvel at the life I have."

"Even hang up the fucking phone."

"I've never fucked a phone before."

"Hang up the phone please."

"Say goodbye Dycke."

"Goodbye Dycke."

"Say Goodbye Even."

"Goodbye Even."

"Go to work you lazy bastard!"

"I'll think about it."

Chapter 30

There Must Be A Mistake

By

Prolonged_Debut 10

Note: I rushed the last 50 pages of this chapter to bring it to a comprehensive conclusion. What I wasn't able to do was proofread it for you. It's a little after 10 AM, on June 18th, and my flight leaves for used in at 3:07 PM.

All I have to do between now and then is shower, shave, pack my clothes, have some lunch, drive 75 miles to the airport, park in long-term parking, and wait for a bus to come and get me to the terminal on time. Getting this finished, and out to you, was just as important to me as getting to the aircraft on time. I hope you enjoy chapter 30, as much as I am going to enjoy being back in Houston continuing my therapy. I do not say this jokingly, because I do not want to fall backwards. Bob/ P_D10

Dude!!

Why do you keep your characters as complete assholes . William Zabo and his crew use their wealth as a weapon to destroy anyone who gets in their way regardless if they are right or wrong. What would happen if they ran into someone who is right and has the balls to stand against them and had the moral high ground as well.Would they commit murder or threaten someone to get their way? I like Even Luck and his family but his investors are shady as hell. It bugs the shit out me. Just saying.

I agree with Fanfare, Redlion said it best...

Get well soon.

couldn't say it better myself...

...between my bloated ego and vicious temperament, this is quite an admission.

Ditto, Redlion...what he said!

I hope that this note finds you well and working hard on the next chapter. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of your works listed on this site and hope to see many more in the future.

One thing I hope to ask/beg of you... If (God forbid) something happens that you feel the need to stop posting stories/chapters/whatever to this site, please take just a moment to post one final entry telling us that you have decided that, or have someone do it for you. I hate to be following a story/author and suddenly nothing more shows up. It ties me in knots for weeks !
